Epidemiology and Reporting Characteristics of Systematic Reviews of Biomedical Research: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background Systematic reviews (SRs) can help decision makers interpret the deluge of published biomedical literature. However, a SR may be of limited use if the methods used to conduct the SR are flawed, and reporting of the SR is incomplete. To our knowledge, since 2004 there has been no cross-sectional study of the prevalence, focus, and completeness of reporting of SRs across different specialties. Abstract Biotechnology is an evolving research field that covers a broad range of topics. Here we aimed to evaluate the latest research literature, to identify prominent research themes, major contributors in terms of institutions, countries/regions, and journals. The Web of Science Core Collection online database was searched to retrieve biotechnology articles published since 2017. In total, 12,351 publications were identified and analyzed. Although supply and demand are perhaps the most fundamental concepts in economics, finding any general form for their behavior has proved to be elusive. Here we discuss our recent findings [1] on the price impact function empirically detected in the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Our study builds on earlier studies of how trading affects prices [2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11]. In particular, we look at the short term response to a single trade. This is done by using huge amounts of data and by measuring the market activity in units of transactions rather than seconds, so that we can more naturally aggregate data for many different stocks. Authors propose an algorithm for analysis of business processes to detect potentially incorrect results of concurrent processes execution. Our novel approach is to conclude necessary database isolation level from business process description. Adaptive antioxidant methionine accumulation in respiratory chain complexes explains the use of a deviant genetic code in mitochondria

Humans and most other animals use 2 different genetic codes to translate their hereditary information: the standard code for nuclear-encoded proteins and a modern variant of this code in mitochondria. Despite the pivotal role of the genetic code for cell biology, the functional significance of the deviant mitochondrial code has remained enigmatic since its first description in 1979. Here, we show that profound and functionally beneficial alterations on the encoded protein level were causative for the AUA codon reassignment from isoleucine to methionine observed in most mitochondrial lineages. Design storm prediction and hydrologic modeling using a Web-GIS approach on a Free software platform

Abstract The aim of this work has been to implement a set of procedures useful to automatise the evaluation, the design storm prediction and the flood discharge associated with a selected risk level. For this purpose a Geographic Information System has been implemented using Grass 5.0. One of the main topics of such a system is a georeferenced database of the highest intensity rainfalls and their assigned duration recorded in Sicily. The information needs of maintainers and reusers can be supported by reverse engineering tools at different information retrieval levels. The paper presents a reverse engineering approach called ASLA for retrieving license information typically used in OSS. Monitoring the rate of hospitalization before rotavirus immunization in Italy utilizing ICD9-CM regional databases

BACKGROUND: Recently, two Rotavirus (RV) vaccines were licensed in Italy, rendering RV illness a vaccine preventable disease. To assess the RV hospitalization rate in Italy, a study focused on the Regional hospital discharge forms (HDD) databases was carried out. RESULTS: Regional HDD databases from Piemonte, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia and Marche were analyzed. A total of 434,335 hospitalizations were counted in the study timeframe and 13,234 VE diagnoses (3% of hospitalizations) were collected.
