Moraalisten ja esteettisten arvostelmien suhde taiteessa : katsaus kohtuullisiin teorioihin
2015
Quasisymmetric structures on surfaces
2009
We show that a locally Ahlfors 2-regular and locally linearly locally contractible metric surtace is locally quasisymmetrically equivalent to tne disk. We also discuss an application of this result to the problem of characterizing surfaces embedded in some Euclidean spaces that are locally bi-Lipschitz equivalent to a ball in the plane.
Self-Assembly of Water-Mediated Supramolecular Cationic Archimedean Solids
2013
Understanding the self-assembly of small structural units into large supramolecular assemblies remains one of the great challenges in structural chemistry. We have discovered that tetrahedral supramolecular cages, exhibiting the shapes of Archimedean solids, can be self-assembled by hydrogen bonding interactions using tricationic N-donors (1 or 2) in cooperation with water (W). Single crystal X-ray analysis shows that cage (2)4(W)6, assembled in an aqueous solution of cation 2 and KPF6, consists of four tripodal trications linked by six water monomers and resembles the shape of a truncated tetrahedron. Similarly, cage (1)4(W6)4 spontaneously self-assembles in an aqueous solution of cation 1…

Evaluation of yeasts from Ecuadorian chicha by their performance as starters for alcoholic fermentations in the food industry
2020
Yeasts involved in the spontaneous fermentation of traditional beverages like chicha (indigenous Andean beer) may have the potential to be used as starter cultures to improve the quality and microbiological safety of these products, but also as non-conventional alternatives to other food alcoholic fermentations. In this research, we isolated, identified and characterised yeast strains from four Ecuadorian chichas made by using four different raw materials: rice (RC), oat (OC), grape (GC) and a mixture of seven corn varieties (yamor, YC). Finally, 254 yeast isolates were obtained and identified by molecular methods. Eleven yeast genera and 16 yeast species were identified with relatively few…
Fascioliasis in Llama, Lama glama, in Andean Endemic Areas: Experimental Transmission Capacity by the High Altitude Snail Vector Galba truncatula and…
2021
Simple Summary The infection by the liver fluke Fasciola hepatica in South American camelids, mainly llamas and alpacas, has been the focus of many studies. However, their capacity to participate in the transmission of the disease and their potential reservoir role in human or animal endemic areas have never been studied. Therefore, all development stages of an isolate from Argentine llama of the high Andean plateau have been experimentally investigated, from egg embryogenesis to metacercarial infectivity, by using the vector snail Galba truncatula from the high altitude Bolivian Altiplano human hyperendemic area. Although eggs shed by llamas may successfully develop until the adult stage i…
Cartoon filter via adaptive abstraction
2016
We propose a non-parametric methodology to realize abstraction images. The redundant wavelet "a trous" algorithm is applied for details detection. An multi-scale circular median filter is used as a smoothing filter. The proposed algorithm is simple and fast on low-cost entry-level hardware. Abstraction in computer graphics defines a procedure that discriminates the essential information that is worth keeping. Usually details, that correspond to higher frequency components, allow to distinguish otherwise similar images. Vice versa, low frequencies are related to the main information, which are larger structures. Contours themselves may also be identified by high frequencies and separate each pi…
Some new fixed point results in non-Archimedean fuzzy metric spaces
2013
In this paper, we introduce the notions of fuzzy $(\alpha,\beta,\varphi)$-contractive mapping, fuzzy $\alpha$-$\phi$-$\psi$-contractive mapping and fuzzy $\alpha$-$\beta$-contractive mapping and establish some results of fixed point for this class of mappings in the setting of non-Archimedean fuzzy metric spaces. The results presented in this paper generalize and extend some recent results in fuzzy metric spaces. Also, some examples are given to support the usability of our results.

Distance Functions, Clustering Algorithms and Microarray Data Analysis
2010
Distance functions are a fundamental ingredient of classification and clustering procedures, and this holds true also in the particular case of microarray data. In the general data mining and classification literature, functions such as Euclidean distance or Pearson correlation have gained their status of de facto standards thanks to a considerable amount of experimental validation. For microarray data, the issue of which distance function works best has been investigated, but no final conclusion has been reached. The aim of this extended abstract is to shed further light on that issue. Indeed, we present an experimental study, involving several distances, assessing (a) their intrinsic sepa…
