Factors influencing caries status and treatment needs among pregnant women attending a maternity hospital in Udaipur city, India.
2012
To estimate the prevalence and severity of dental caries along with the treatment needs; to determine the factors that influence dental caries status among pregnant women attending a district maternity hospital in Udaipur, India. Study design: Study sample comprised of 206 pregnant women attending a district maternity hospital in Udaipur, India. Clinical data were collected on dental caries by DMFT and treatment needs as described in World Health Organization Dentition status and Treatment needs. Results: The overall caries prevalence was 87%. Mean caries experience differed significantly among women in various trimesters, it was found to be 3.59 and 3.00 in 1st and 2nd trimester subjects r…
Damage Indices and Photogrammetry for Decay Assessment of Stone-Built Cultural Heritage: The Case Study of the San Domenico Church Main Entrance Port…
2020
In recent decades, increasing attention is being paid to the multidisciplinary approach that allows the performance of both a preventive conservation and a more invasive restoration action. In this context, the present study aims to acquire information and data from field surveys undertaken in San Domenico Church, Southern Calabria, in order to provide a tool for the recording and the inventory of damage and decay phenomena, and assess their causes and scale. The subsequent calculation of damage indices also provided useful information in order to allow the prioritization of conservation and preservation responses.

The annular decay property and capacity estimates for thin annuli
2016
We obtain upper and lower bounds for the nonlinear variational capacity of thin annuli in weighted $\mathbf{R}^n$ and in metric spaces, primarily under the assumptions of an annular decay property and a Poincar\'e inequality. In particular, if the measure has the $1$-annular decay property at $x_0$ and the metric space supports a pointwise $1$-Poincar\'e inequality at $x_0$, then the upper and lower bounds are comparable and we get a two-sided estimate for thin annuli centred at $x_0$, which generalizes the known estimate for the usual variational capacity in unweighted $\mathbf{R}^n$. Most of our estimates are sharp, which we show by supplying several key counterexamples. We also character…
A method for fitting multi-component decay curves
1982
Abstract A generalization of a non-iterative method recently proposed by Mukoyama for the fitting of two-component decay curve is presented. Two modifications of the procedure are also suggested, by which the influence of the statistical fluctuations of the data may be reduced. Results of fairly good quality are obtained also for three- and, to a lesser extent, for four-component decay curves.
Neutrinoless double beta decay and QCD running at low energy scales
2018
There is a common belief that the main uncertainties in the theoretical analysis of neutrinoless double beta ($0\nu\beta\beta$) decay originate from the nuclear matrix elements. Here, we uncover another previously overlooked source of potentially large uncertainties stemming from non-perturbative QCD effects. Recently perturbative QCD corrections have been calculated for all dimension 6 and 9 effective operators describing $0\nu\beta\beta$-decay and their importance for a reliable treatment of $0\nu\beta\beta$-decay has been demonstrated. However, these perturbative results are valid at energy scales above $\sim 1$ GeV, while the typical $0\nu\beta\beta$-scale is about $\sim 100$ MeV. In vi…
Low-energy couplings of QCD from topological zero-mode wave functions
2003
By matching 1/m^2 divergences in finite-volume two-point correlation functions of the scalar or pseudoscalar densities with those obtained in chiral perturbation theory, we derive a relation between the Dirac operator zero-mode eigenfunctions at fixed non-trivial topology and the low-energy constants of QCD. We investigate the feasibility of using this relation to extract the pion decay constant, by computing the zero-mode correlation functions on the lattice in the quenched approximation and comparing them with the corresponding expressions in quenched chiral perturbation theory.
Determination of the form factors for the decayB0→D*−l+νland of the CKM matrix element|Vcb|
2008
We present a combined measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element vertical bar V-cb vertical bar and of the parameters rho(2), R-1(1), and R-2(1), which fully characterize the form factors for the B-0 -> D*(-)center dot(+)nu(center dot) decay in the framework of heavy-quark effective field theory. The results, based on a selected sample of about 52 800 B-0 -> D*(-)center dot(+)nu(center dot) decays, recorded by the BABAR detector, are rho(2)=1.157 +/- 0.094 +/- 0.027, R-1(1)=1.327 +/- 0.131 +/- 0.043, R-2(1)=0.859 +/- 0.077 +/- 0.021, and F(1)vertical bar V-cb vertical bar=(34.7 +/- 0.4 +/- 1.0)x10(-3). The first error is the statistical and the second is the systematic unce…
Search forB0→ϕ(K+π−)decays with largeK+π−invariant mass
2007
Motivated by the polarization anomaly in the B→ (1020)K*(892) decay, we extend our search for other K* final states in the decay B0→ (1020)K*0 with the K*0→K+π- invariant mass above 1.6 GeV. The final states considered include the K*(1680)0, K3*(1780)0, K4*(2045)0, and a Kπ spin-zero nonresonant component. We also search for B0→ D0 decay with the same final state. The analysis is based on a sample of about 384×106 BB pairs recorded with the BABAR detector. We place upper limits on the branching fractions B(B0→ K*(1680)0)<3.5×10-6, B(B0→ K3*(1780)0) <2.7×10-6, B(B0→ K4*(2045)0)<15.3×10-6, and B(B0→ D0)<11.7×10-6 at 90% C.L. The nonresonant contribution is consistent with the measurements in …
Isospin breaking effects in the X(3872) resonance
2009
In this paper we study the effects of isospin breaking in the dynamical generation of the X(3872) state. We also calculate the ratio of the branching fractions of the $X$ decaying into $J/\psi$ with two and three pions, which has been measured experimentally to be close to unity. Together with the X(3872), of positive C-parity, we predict the existence of a negative C-parity state and we comment on which decay channel is more promising to observe this state.
