Assessment of wastewater treatment alternatives for small communities: An analytic network process approach

The selection of the most appropriate wastewater treatment (WWT) technology is a complex problem since many alternatives are available and many criteria are involved in the decision-making process. To deal with this challenge, the analytic network process (ANP) is applied for the first time to rank a set of seven WWT technology set-ups for secondary treatment in small communities. A major advantage of ANP is that it incorporates interdependent relationships between elements. In this paper a new approach was proposed so as to comparatively evaluate the quality of service alternatives. Reciprocal interactions among farmers and consumers can be seen as the central point of market exchanges in Civic Agriculture (CAs). This work exploits the concept of social embeddedness as a conceptual tool for describing some phenomena related to CA. Social embeddedness concept might help to understand how consumers and producers behave in the market beyond the paradigm of neoclassical economics theory. The paper deals with the problem of the imputation of the automated decision making of the public administration, with consequent liability. The idea is to use the theory of bodies of the public administration, and the principle of responsability (art. 97 Cost.), and the responsible for the procedure, who has to verify, among other things, the reasonableness of the solution that is reached through the automated procedure, in order to assume responsibility for the final decision.
Is more choice always worse? Age differences in the overchoice effect

ABSTRACTCurrent research on the overchoice effect has been mainly conducted from an adult point of view and with adult subjects. This study investigates whether children, adolescents, and seniors suffer the same negative consequences as adults when facing an overabundance of choice. Findings showed that the overchoice effect did not equally extend to all age groups. While adolescents were affected by the phenomenon in a very similar way as adults, children and seniors suffered fewer negative consequences of an overabundance of choice. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

Partendo da una breve rassegna della recente letteratura psicologica sui limiti cognitivi, emozionali e motivazionali della presa di decisioni, il presente contributo segnala la necessità di rivedere criticamente la diffusa convinzione secondo cui avere la possibilità di scegliere è sempre vantaggioso e gratificante per l’individuo. La sovrabbondanza di decisioni richieste dalla società odierna rischia, infatti, di tradursi in una stressante “tirannia di troppa scelta”.
