Study of the thermal behaviour of ordered bimetallic EDTA complexes
1986
Abstract The study of the thermal behaviour of a family of isostructural ordered bimetallic MM'(EDTA)·6H 2 O complexes has been performed using TG and DTA. Formal kinetic analysis of the dehydration step has been approached using non-isothermal procedures. The resulting correlation among the calculated E a values and the cationic sizes implies a common dehydration mechanism. Copper-containing complexes show distinctive behaviour during the ligand pyrolysis processes. A mechanistic interpretation involving formation of Cu(I) and Cu(0) intermediates is furnished. The evolution of the inorganic residues in systems containing both Co and Ni is especially considered given the interest in the (Co…
Study of the thermal decomposition of bromazepan complexes with Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II)
1984
Abstract The thermal behaviour of complexes of bromazepan with Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) was studied by thermogravimetry (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The complexes decompose in two steps: dehydration and decomposition. A correlation between the dehydration temperatures of MB2Xn and the coordinating ability of X is observed.
A study of the thermal decomposition of amorphous bimetallic CDTA complexes
1989
Abstract The study of the thermal behaviour of a family of bimetallic amorphous MM'(CDTA)· n H 2 O complexes has been performed using TG and DTA. The complexes decompose in three steps: dehydration, ligand pyrolysis and inorganic residue evoluation.
Lateral reorganization of plasma membrane is involved in the yeast resistance to severe dehydration
2010
International audience; In this study, we investigated the kinetic and the magnitude of dehydrations on yeast plasma membrane (PM) modifications because this parameter is crucial to cell survival. Functional (permeability) and structural (morphology, ultrastructure, and distribution of the protein Sur7-GFP contained in sterol-rich membrane microdomains) PM modifications were investigated by confocal and electron microscopy after progressive (non-lethal) and rapid (lethal) hyperosmotic perturbations. Rapid cell dehydration induced the formation of many PM invaginations followed by membrane internalization of low sterol content PM regions with time. Permeabilization of the plasma membrane occ…
Effects of yeast immobilization on bioethanol production
2014
The current study evaluated a newer method, which includes a dehydration step, of immobilizing Saccharomyces cerevisiae L-77 and S. cerevisiae L-73 onto hydroxylapatite and chamotte ceramic supports. The efficiency of cell immobilization on chamotte was significantly higher than hydroxylapatite. Immobilized yeast preparations were investigated for their ethanol-producing capabilities. The glucose concentration in a fermentation medium was 100 mg/mL. Immobilized preparations produced the same amount of ethanol (48 ± 0.5 mg/mL) as free cells after 36 H of fermentation. During the early stages of fermentation, immobilized yeast cells produced ethanol at a higher rate than free cells. Yeast pre…
Recovery Estimation of Dried Foodborne Pathogens Is Directly Related to Rehydration Kinetics.
2016
International audience; Drying is a common process which is used to preserve food products and technological microorganisms, but which is deleterious for the cells. The aim of this study is to differentiate the effects of drying alone from the effects of the successive and necessary rehydration. Rehydration of dried bacteria is a critical step already studied in starter culture but not for different kinetics and not for pathogens. In the present study, the influence of rehydration kinetics was investigated for three foodborne pathogens involved in neonatal diseases caused by the consumption of rehydrated milk powder: Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium, Salmonella enteri…
Keggin and Wells-Dawson supported heteropolyacids as heterogeneous (photo)catalysts for gas-solid 2-propanol dehydration
2016
Catalytic and photocatalytic tests for 2-propanol dehydration to propene were successfully carried out by using binary materials obtained by supporting a Keggin or Wells-Dawson heteropolyacids via impregnation method to commercial SiO2 or TiO2. (Photo)catalytic 2-propanol dehydration was studied in gas-solid regime by using a continuous (photo)reactor working at atmospheric pressure and 80 °C. Propene and diisopropyl ether were the main reaction products. For the continuous photo-assisted runs the reactor was also illuminated with UV light. The heteropolyacid species played a key role both for the catalytic and the photo-assisted catalytic reactions; indicating that the acidity of the clust…

Qualitative and quantitative characterization of the in vitro dehydration process of hydrogel contact lenses
2007
Purpose: To investigate the in vitro dehydration process of conventional hydrogel and silicone-hydrogel contact lens materials. Methods: Eight conventional hydrogel and five silicone-hydrogel contact lenses were dehydrated under controlled environmental conditions on an analytical balance. Data were taken at 1-min intervals and dehydration curves of cumulative dehydration (CD), valid dehydration (VD), and dehydration rate (DR) were obtained. Several quantitative descriptors of the dehydration process were obtained by further processing of the information. Results: Duration of phase I (r 2 5 0.921), CD at end of phase I (r 2 5 0.971), time to achieve a DR of 1%/min (r 2 5 0.946) were stron…
Synthesis of new antimicrobial pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinolin-3-ones
2012
The attractive structure of the pyrroloisoquinoline moiety, together with its potential antimicrobial activity, encouraged us to prepare six 8-substituted and seven 8,9-disubstituted-1,2,3,5,6,10b-hexahydropyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinolin-3-ones in a few steps with good yields. We applied a convenient methodology via double intramolecular cyclization conducted by a Bischler-Napieralski cyclodehydration-imine reduction sequence, which is widely employed in the synthesis of isoquinoline alkaloids. Therefore, we synthesized three series of these pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinolin-3-ones characterized by the substituent at the 8-position or 8,9-positions of the aromatic ring: (a) different side chains are atta…
