Testing charged current quasi-elastic and multinucleon interaction models in the NEUT neutrino interaction generator with published datasets from the…
2016
There has been a great deal of theoretical work on sophisticated charged current quasi-elastic (CCQE) neutrino interaction models in recent years, prompted by a number of experimental results that measured unexpectedly large CCQE cross sections on nuclear targets. As the dominant interaction mode at T2K energies, and the signal process in oscillation analyses, it is important for the T2K experiment to include realistic CCQE cross section uncertainties in T2K analyses. To this end, T2K’s Neutrino Interaction Working Group has implemented a number of recent models in NEUT, T2K’s primary neutrino interaction event generator. In this paper, we give an overview of the models implemented and pres…
Functional characterization of a peroxisome proliferator response-element located in the intron 3 of rat peroxisomal thiolase B gene.
2003
Expression of the rat peroxisomal 3-ketoacyl-CoA thiolase gene B is induced by peroxisome proliferators. Although a sequence element like a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-binding site is located in the promoter region of this gene, we previously found that this element is competent for the activation by hepatocyte nuclear factor-4, but not functional with PPARalpha. We describe here a new peroxisome proliferator-response element located in the intron 3 (+1422/+1434) that binds in vitro the PPARalpha/retinoid X receptor alpha heterodimer and confers the induction by PPARalpha in transfection assays. We propose a model of regulation of the rat thiolase B gene involving thos…
Differences in Long-COVID Symptoms between Vaccinated and Non-Vaccinated (BNT162b2 Vaccine) Hospitalized COVID-19 Survivors Infected with the Delta V…
2022
This study compared differences in the presence of post-COVID symptoms among vaccinated and non-vaccinated COVID-19 survivors requiring hospitalization due to the Delta (B.1.617.2) variant. This cohort study included hospitalized subjects who had survived SARS-CoV-2 infection (Delta variant) from July to August 2021 in an urban hospital in Madrid, Spain. Individuals were classified as vaccinated if they received full administration (i.e., two doses) of BNT162b2 (“Pfizer-BioNTech”) vaccines. Other vaccines were excluded. Those with just one dose of the BNT162b2 vaccine were considered as non-vaccinated. Patients were scheduled for a telephone interview at a follow-up around six months after …
Multivariate equivalence tests for use in pharmaceutical development.
2014
Statistical equivalence analyses are well-established parts of many studies in the biomedical sciences. Also in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing equivalence testing methods are required in order to statistically establish similarities between machines, process components, or complete processes. This article presents a choice of multivariate equivalence testing procedures for normally distributed data as generalizations of existing univariate methods. In all derived methods, variability is interpreted as nuisance parameter. The use of the proposed methods in pharmaceutical development is demonstrated with a comparative analysis of dissolution profiles.
A dispersion relation for the pion-mass dependence of hadron properties
2010
We present a dispersion relation in the pion-mass squared, which static quantities (nucleon mass, magnetic moment, etc.) obey under the assumption of analyticity in the entire complex $m_\pi^2$ plane modulo a cut at negative $m_\pi^2$ associated with pion production. The relation is verified here in a number of examples of nucleon and $\Delta$-isobar properties computed in chiral perturbation theory up to order $p^3$. We outline a method to obtain relations for other mass-dependencies, and illustrate it on a two-loop example.
From primordial $^4$He abundance to the Higgs field
2008
We constrain the possible time variation of the Higgs vacuum expectation value ($v$) by recent results on the primordial $^4$He abundance ($Y_P$). For that, we improve the analytic models of the key-processes in our previous analytic calculation of the primordial $^4$He abundance. Furthermore, the latest results on the neutron decay, the baryon to photon ratio based on 5-year WMAP observations and a new dependence of the deuteron binding energy on $v$ are incorporated. Finally, we approximate the weak freeze-out, the cross section of photo-disintegration of the deuteron, the mean lifetime of the free neutron, the mass difference of neutron and proton, the Fermi coupling constant, the mass o…
Projectile and target delta excitation in the (3He, t) and (3He, 3He) reactions
1992
Abstract We study simultaneously the ( 3 He , t) and ( 3 He, 3 He) reactions on proton and neutron targets in the region of the delta excitation resonance. We observe that the mechanism of delta excitation in the target dominates the ( 3 He, t) reaction on the proton, but the mechanism of delta excitation in the projectile is important in the ( 3 He, t) reaction on the neutron, and largely dominates the ( 3 He, 3 He) reaction on proton and neutron targets. The two mechanisms give rise to different shapes in the energy distributions of the t or 3 He outgoing particles and the weights and shapes of the mechanism change appreciably with the energy of the projectile. The combined experimental s…
A polarized 3He target for the photon beam at MAMI
2011
Abstract A polarized 3 He target has been installed for the first time inside the 4 π Crystal Ball detector at the tagged photon beam of the MAinz MIcrotron (MAMI). It has been demonstrated that the system works reliably and that the polarization losses during handling of the polarized gas are under control. Initial polarization values up to 70% and total relaxation times up to 20 h could be obtained during a first test beam time devoted to the measurement of the double polarized photoabsorption cross-section in the Δ ( 1232 ) baryon resonance region.
N−Δ(1232)axial form factors from weak pion production
2010
The $N\ensuremath{\Delta}$ axial form factors are determined from neutrino induced pion production ANL and BNL data by using a theoretical model that accounts both for background mechanisms and deuteron effects. We find violations of the off-diagonal Goldberger-Treiman relation at the level of $2\ensuremath{\sigma}$ which might have an impact in background calculations for T2K and MiniBooNE low energy neutrino oscillation precision experiments.
