The network of heliports as a necessary tool to develop rotorcraft services

2012

The rotorcraft operations will grow as air taxi services and business trips and even as “commuter”, intercity and line services between urban centres and touristic or economic-industrial places of special value. But actually the rising public opposition to helicopter activities reduces the number of available heliports for private and corporate operators, as environmental limits of all type of allowed operations and of suitable sites to construct new infrastructures. So the growth of scheduled rotorcraft services (passengers and freights) has to be supported not only by advances in machine’s technologies, but also by an adequate and strategically distributed infrastructure network. This vis…

Alkoholijuomien kysynnän joustot Suomessa vuosina 2001-2015

2016

Tutkimuksessa saadaan esimerki…

Unmet needs in emergency department patients as an important aspect of the increasing number of hospitalizations

2017

Background. Unmet needs in the medical care of high-need patients may increase costs due to the use of emergency departments (EDs) instead of primary care. Objectives. To establish the possible correlation between the unmet needs of patients and the number of hospitalizations, and the probability of influence of the former aspect on the latter, and to analyze the level of satisfied needs of ED patients in relation to sociodemographic data. Material and methods. An original questionnaire and a modified version of the Camberwell Assessment of Need Short Appraisal Schedule (CANSAS) were used to assess the level of satisfaction of the social, medical, psychological and environmental needs of 15…

Le cadre de sante entre logiques d'utilité économique et logiques de soins hospitaliers

2010

The public hospital first line manager has to organize the activity of his care unit on the basis of arbitrations between two systems of logic that come more and more frequently in conflict: - The market logic / the public hospital logic - The care process logic / the patient's path logic - The function logic / the professional logic - The managerial logic / the logic "bureaucratic"

Do intensified job demands predict burnout? How motivation to lead and leadership status may have a moderating effect

2023

ObjectivesThe aim of this longitudinal study was to investigate how intensified job demands (job-related planning demands, career-related planning demands, and learning demands) are associated with burnout. We explored whether affective-identity motivation to lead moderates this association and, thus, functions as a personal resource regardless of leadership status. We further investigated whether the possible buffering effect is stronger for those professionals who became leaders during the follow-up.MethodsOur sample consisted of highly educated Finnish professionals (n = 372): part of them (n = 63, 17%) occupied a leadership position during the 2-year follow-up while the rest maintained …

Altered prefrontal cortex responses in older adults with subjective memory complaints and dementia during dual‐task gait : an fNIRS study

2021

People with cognitive impairments show deficits during physical performances such as gait, in particular during cognitively‐challenging conditions (i.e. dual‐task gait [DTG]). However it is unclear if people at risk of dementia, such as those with subjective memory complaints (SMC), also display gait and central deficits associated with DTG. In this study, we investigated the effects of single‐ and dual‐task gait (STG and DTG), on left prefrontal cortex (PFC) activation in elderly people with subjective memory complaints (SMC) and Dementia. 58 older adults (aged 65‐94 yrs; 26 Healthy; 23 SMC; 9 Dementia) were recruited. Gait spatiotemporal characteristics (i.e. stride velocity and length) w…

Job strain among blue-collar and white-collar employees as a determinant of total mortality: a 28-year population-based follow-up.

2012

Objectives To investigate the effect of job demand, job control and job strain on total mortality among white-collar and blue-collar employees working in the public sector. Design 28-year prospective population-based follow-up. Setting Several municipals in Finland. Participants 5731 public sector employees from the Finnish Longitudinal Study on Municipal Employees Study aged 44–58 years at baseline. Outcomes Total mortality from 1981 to 2009 among individuals with complete data on job strain in midlife, categorised according to job demand and job control: high job strain (high job demands and low job control), active job (high job demand and high job control), passive job (low job demand a…

The possibilities of energy storage in bulk materials

2018

The increased demand for energy from renewable sources entails the development of storage systems. The purpose of these systems is to supply energy on demand during periods which may not be concurrent with the time of the most efficient production of this energy. Various systems are being developed for storing energy in various forms and over various lengths of time. This paper presents selected projects and the results of studies into thermal energy storage. The results of the present author's own research into the transport of thermal energy in granular beds are also presented. The curves of temperature distribution have been determined; they are essential for the design of the thermal sto…

Assessment of the changes of COD and color in rivers of Latvia during the last twenty years

1998

Analysis of long-term records of the concentrations of water color and chemical oxygen demand for nine river sites in Latvia is reported. The period of observations lasted for the last 20 years. Characteristic features of data include non-normal distributions, serial correlation, seasonality and presence of mostly significant downward trends. In Latvia, the main water quality changes could be explained by the changes of anthropogenic impact and the type of catchment management over the last 20 years.
