A comparison between industrial experts' and novices' haptic perceptual organization: a tool to identify descriptors of the handle of fabrics

2004

Abstract In descriptive analysis, the establishing of the list of attributes is crucial. Attributes should account for consumers' perceptions and be understood by professionals for efficient communication. This work was aimed at identifying the most appropriate attributes for fabric description from the terminology associated with both experts' and novices' haptic perceptual spaces. Eleven industrial experts and two groups of novices (20 males and 20 females) evaluated 26 clothing fabrics. They performed (1) a free-sorting task based on haptic similarities, (2) a description of the previously formed groups, and (3) a hedonic rating task for each fabric. The perceptual organization was simil…

Measuring the social impact of research in Paediatric Dentistry: An Altmetric study.

2019

Background: Traditional metrics have been extensively used to evaluate the scientific performance. Despite being widespread accepted, citation-based metrics are not able to describe the social impact of research. A diverse metric, Altmetric, was proposed to overcome those limitations. Aim: This study aims to analyse the social impact of research in the field of paediatric dentistry and to assess if a correlation exists between the JCR citations, the AAS score, and the recently released Dimensions citation count. Design: A bibliometric study was conducted on the four journals related to Paediatric Dentistry listed in the JCR from 2014 to 2017. Descriptive statistics was used to describe the …

Revealing Employer’s Name in Social Networks

2017

Abstract The research investigates the question of the importance of mentioning the name of the employer in online and offline social networks. The exchange of information is an important part of social networks and social capital theory. Companies can use the networks of their employees to recruit new hires and to check habits and interests of likely new employees. To do that, the employee has to mention the name of the company in these social networks. The paper compares different real social networks used by family and friends and private and business social network sites (SNSs) as online social networks and compares the differences between men and women. The empirical research has been …

2018

Purpose: This paper analyzes the consequences of the change in the accounting rules about operating leases in the companies and users of financial information. Design/methodology: We use the constructive capitalization method to estimate the liabilities and leased assets and perform an ex ante analysis of the regulatory impact in the IBEX 35 non-financial companies. Non-parametric tests are employed to examine the effect on certain ratios, and through a multivariate regression we investigate the business characteristics that explain the variation of EBITDA. Findings: The ratios under study are significantly affected by the capitalization of operating leases. The explanatory analysis shows t…

Knowledge and management of temporomandibular joint disorders by general dentists in Spain

2019

Background Given the importance of temporomandibular disorders (TMD), we tried to assess general dentists’ knowledge regarding etiology, diagnosis, and treatment in order to understand their attitude. Material and Methods A sample of 130 general dentists answered a 16-item questionnaire on three areas – etiology, diagnosis, and management of common temporomandibular disorders – as well as a question on the need for continuous education regarding TMD management in common clinical practice in Spain. Given that the descriptive statistics achieved reflect significantly different values among means in each area, a variance analysis for repeated measurements was applied in order to contrast diffe…

Changes in children's sleep domains between 2 and 3 years of age: the Ulm SPATZ Health Study

2017

Abstract Objective There is growing interest in the link between sleep habits and child health but reference values specific to toddlers as well as longitudinal data on sleep are scarce. We aimed to describe parent-reported child sleep habits and their intra-individual changes in 2- to 3-year-olds using data from a regional birth cohort study. Methods In the Ulm SPATZ Health Study, a birth cohort study conducted at Ulm, Southern Germany, with baseline examination from April 2012 to May 2013, the German version of the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ-DE) was used longitudinally at follow-ups at 2 and 3 years ( N = 615 children). Descriptive statistics including intra-individual di…

The analyzed data belong to an investigation which is currently being performed in 12 regions on the “School 2.0 program”. At this stage we handle references of descriptive statistics and some of the interviews and classroom observations from the participating centers on the “smart school”. From the first analysis, it can be said that the school system follows a pattern transfer including: high dependence on the po…
