Modeling Spatial Data Pooled over Time: Schematic Representation and Monte Carlo Evidences
2015
The spatial autocorrelation issue is now well established, and it is almost impossible to deal with spatial data without considering this reality. In addition, recent developments have been devoted to developing methods that deal with spatial autocorrelation in panel data. However, little effort has been devoted to dealing with spatial data (cross-section) pooled over time. This paper endeavours to bridge the gap between the theoretical modeling development and the application based on spatial data pooled over time. The paper presents a schematic representation of how spatial links can be expressed, depending on the nature of the variable, when combining the spatial multidirectional relatio…
Machine learning techniques demonstrating individual movement patterns of the vertebral column: the fingerprint of spinal motion
2022
Surface topography systems enable the capture of spinal dynamic movement; however, it is unclear whether vertebral dynamics are unique enough to identify individuals. Therefore, in this study, we investigated whether the identification of individuals is possible based on dynamic spinal data. Three different data representations were compared (automated extracted features using contrastive loss and triplet loss functions, as well as simple descriptive statistics). High accuracies indicated the possible existence of a personal spinal 'fingerprint', therefore enabling subject recognition. The present work forms the basis for an objective comparison of subjects and the transfer of the method to…
Qualitative analysis by experts of the essential elements of the nursing practice environments proposed by the TOP10 questionnaire of assessment of e…
2020
Background: A short TOP10 scale based on the Practice Environment Scale-Nursing Work Index questionnaire measures the characteristics of nursing work environments. Positive environments result in better quality care and health outcomes. Objective: To identify a small number of core elements that would facilitate more effective interventions by nurse managers, and compare them with the essential elements proposed by the TOP10. Method: Qualitative research by a nominal group of eight experts. The content analysis was combined with descriptive data. Results: Ten most important items were selected and analyzed by the expert group. A high level of consensus in four items (2, 15, 20, 31) and an a…
Standard of living, consumption norms, and perceived necessities
2014
Purpose– The purpose of this paper is to focus on the material conditions of peoples’ daily lives by investigating changes in the self-perceived necessities of ten technology- and leisure-related consumer goods and services between 1999 and 2009. The authors also look at the socio-demographic predictors of the perceptions and the development of the ownership of the goods under investigation.Design/methodology/approach– The data are derived from surveys “Finland – Consumption and way of life” 1999 (N=2,417), 2004 (N=3,574), and 2009 (N=1,202). The statistical analysis methods include ANOVA and descriptive statistics. Also official statistics are used.Findings– Many technological goods, in pa…
Job strain in public transport drivers: Data to assess the relationship between demand-control model indicators, traffic accidents and sanctions
2018
This Data in Brief (DiB) article examines the association between the Job Demand-Control (JDC) model of stress and traffic safety outcomes (accidents and sanctions) in public transport drivers (n = 780). The data was collected using a structured self-administrable questionnaire composed of measurements of work stress (Job Content Questionnaire), and demographics (professional driving experience, hours and days working/driving per week). The data contains 4 parts: descriptive statistics, bivariate correlations between the study variables, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Post-Hoc comparisons between drivers classified different quadrants of the JDC model. For further information, it is conve…
Panorama de la Calidad de Vida Laboral entre Trabajadores que Prestan Cuidados Paliativos en Brasil
2019
Money Invested on Shopping Online and Payment Methods Used: Findings by Recent Survey
2021
Within development of telecommunication, e-commerce is rapidly replacing traditional shopping as well as offering new ways to pay for goods. Payment is one of the main phases of buying decision process and it is crucial to e-commerce, because there is a big possibility that consumer will abandon the shopping cart if preferred payment method is not available. Not only flexible payment options can help company to attract and retain customers, but it also can ensure that company get paid more quickly. The aim of the research is to find out how much money Latvian customers invest when shopping online and which payment methods they use to pay for the purchase on internet in Latvia. Research meth…
Teachers’ initial training in cultural diversity in Spain: attitudes and pedagogical strategies
2005
This paper examines a number of issues relating to educational responsibility for increasing social cohesion and preventing the segregation of people from different cultures who have to pass through the Spanish educational system. Using a descriptive analysis, we review the present situation. Our review shows that the treatment of cultural diversity by Spanish universities is, in general, insufficient with respect to the training needs that students will demand from the educational system both now and in the future. Simply taking a single course on intercultural issues is not enough to prepare teachers to cope with cultural diversity in the school and classroom. Therefore, educational appro…
Descriptive Statistics
2009
A set of medical data is based on a collection of the data of individual cases or objects, also called observation units or statistical units. Every case, for example every study participant, patient, every experimental animal, every tooth or every cell shows comparable parameters (such as body weight, gender, erosion, pH). Each of these parameters, also called variables, has a specific parameter value (gender = male, age = 30 years, weight = 70 kg) for each observation unit (for example the patient). The aim of descriptive statistics is to summarize the data, so that they can be clearly illustrated (1–3). The property of a parameter is specified by its so-called scale of measure. Generally…
