Evolution of tissue-specific keratins as deduced from novel cDNA sequences of the lungfish Protopterus aethiopicus.

2005

Lungfishes are possibly the closest extant relatives of the land vertebrates (tetrapods). We report here the cDNA and predicted amino acid sequences of 13 different keratins (ten type I and three type II) of the lungfish Protopterus aethiopicus. These keratins include the orthologs of human K8 and K18. The lungfish keratins were also identified in tissue extracts using two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, keratin blot binding assays and immunoblotting. The identified keratin spots were analyzed by peptide mass fingerprinting which assigned seven sequences (inclusively Protopterus K8 and K18) to their respective protein spot. The peptide mass fingerprints also revealed the fac…

Influence of Host-Guest and Host-Host Interactions on the Spin-Crossover 3D Hofmann-type Clathrates {FeII(pina)[MI(CN)2]2·xMeOH (MI = Ag, Au)

2019

[EN] The synthesis, structural characterization and magnetic properties of two new isostructural porous 3D compounds with the general formula {FeII(pina)[MI(CN)2]2}·xMeOH (x = 0¿5; pina = N-(pyridin-4-yl)isonicotinamide; MI = AgI and x ~ 5 (1·xMeOH); MI = AuI and x ~ 5 (2·xMeOH)) are presented. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses have revealed that the structure of 1·xMeOH (or 2·xMeOH) presents two equivalent doubly interpenetrated 3D frameworks stabilized by both argentophilic (or aurophilic) interactions and interligand C¿O···HC H-bonds. Despite the interpenetration of the networks, these compounds display accessible void volume capable of hosting up to five molecules of methano…

Serological identification of HSP105 as a novel non-Hodgkin lymphoma therapeutic target.

2011

Abstract We reported that the clinical efficacy of dendritic cell–based vaccination is strongly associated with immunologic responses in relapsed B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL) patients. We have now investigated whether postvaccination antibodies from responders recognize novel shared NHL-restricted antigens. Immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry showed that they cross-react with allogeneic B-NHLs at significantly higher levels than their matched prevaccination samples or nonresponders' antibodies. Western blot analysis of DOHH-2 lymphoma proteome revealed a sharp band migrating at approximately 100 to 110 kDa only with postvaccine repertoires from responders. Mass spectrometry ident…

Revisited BIA-MS combination: Entire "on-a-chip" processing leading to the proteins identification at low femtomole to sub-femtomole levels

2008

International audience; We present the results of a study in which biomolecular interaction analysis (BIA, Biacore 2000) was combined with mass spectrometry (MS) using entire "on-a-chip" procedure. Most BIA-MS studies included an elution step of the analyte prior MS analysis. Here, we report a low-cost approach combining Biacore analysis with homemade chips and MS in situ identification onto the chips without elution step. First experiments have been made with rat serum albumin to determine the sensitivity and validation of the concept has been obtained with an antibody/antigen couple. Our "on-a-chip" procedure allowed complete analysis by MS-MS of the biochip leading to protein identificat…

Physicochemical Characterization of Isomorphously Substituted FeZSM-5 during Activation

2002

Physicochemical characteristics of isomorphously substituted FeZSM-5 both after preparation and after activation have been determined by gas (Ar and N2) physisorption, 27Al and 29Si magic-angle spinning–nuclear magnetic resonance, NH3 temperature-programmed desorption, transmission electron microscopy, H2 temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), 57Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy, and voltammetric response techniques. The activation of as-synthesized FeZSM-5 comprises calcination at 823 K and a subsequent steam treatment (300 mbar of H2O in N2) at 873 K. Calcination leads to complete removal of the template. During this process a significant fraction of iron is dislodged to extraframework positions…

Size and Surface Chemistry Tuning of Silicon Carbide Nanoparticles.

2017

International audience; Chemical transformations on the surface of commercially available 3C-SiC nanoparticles were studied by means of FTIR, XPS, and temperature-programmed desorption mass spectrometry methods. Thermal oxidation of SiC NPs resulted in the formation of a hydroxylated SiO2 surface layer with C3Si–H and CHx groups over the SiO2/SiC interface. Controllable oxidation followed by oxide dissolution in HF or KOH solution allowed the SiC NPs size tuning from 17 to 9 nm. Oxide-free SiC surfaces, terminated by hydroxyls and C3Si–H groups, can be efficiently functionalized by alkenes under thermal or photochemical initiation. Treatment of SiC NPs by HF/HNO3 mixture produces a carbon-e…

Adsorption and separation of black liquor-derived phenol derivatives using anion exchange resins

2017

Abstract Kraft black liquor is the major waste stream of the paper pulping industry. This stream is usually directly incinerated in such facilities for energy production and recycling of the inorganic chemicals involved. However, lignin and other low molecular organic fragments dissolved in black liquor give rise to a large variety of aromatic fine chemicals. Energetic use of black liquor and its components prevents the removal of these valuable compounds from the waste stream. We present an easy protocol for adsorption and selective desorption of low molecular phenol derivatives from black liquor depending on the composition of the desorption system. Furthermore, adsorption experiments in …

Adsorption of water vapor on X and Y zeolites exchanged with barium

2001

Abstract The adsorption of water vapor on BaY and BaX zeolites is studied by thermogravimetry and calorimetry under isothermal or isobaric conditions. The faujasite zeolite exhibits a stronger adsorption affinity for water molecules with barium than with sodium or potassium as exchangeable cations. The adsorption–desorption isotherm at 150°C shows a hysteresis loop attributed to the migration of compensating cations during their interaction with water molecules. Calorimetric measurements and the Dubinin–Radushkevich’s model both show that the adsorption of water occurs via a three-step mechanism: adsorption on compensating cations, formation of a monolayer on the walls and multilayer adsorp…

Study of the Interaction Mechanism in the Biosorption of Copper(II) Ions onto Posidonia oceanica and Peat

2012

A systematic approach was used to characterize the biosorption of copper(II) onto two biosorbents, Posidonia oceanica and peat, focusing on the interaction mechanisms, the copper(II) sorption–desorption process and the thermal behavior of the biosorbents. Sorption isotherms at pH 4–6 were obtained and the experimental data were fitted to the Langmuir model with a maximum uptake ( q max ) at pH 6 of 85.78 and 49.69mgg -1 , for P. oceanica and peat, respectively. A sequential desorption (SD) with water, Ca(NO 3 ) 2 , and EDTA was applied to copper-saturated biosorbents. Around 65–70% copper(II) were desorbed with EDTA, indicating that this heavy metal was strongly bound. The reversibility of …
