Malta and Sicily Joined by Geoheritage Enhancement and Geotourism within the Framework of Land Management and Development
2018
Malta and Sicily, which lie at the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, share a long history and have unique geological and geomorphological features which make them attractive destinations for geotourism. In the framework of an international research project, a study for the identification, selection and assessment of the rich geological heritage of Malta and Sicily was carried out, aiming to create a geosite network between these islands. Based on the experience and outputs achieved in previous investigations on geoheritage assessment carried out in various morpho-climatic contexts, an integrated methodology was applied for the selection, numerical assessment and ranking of geosites. The sele…
Filosofia in senso cosmico e destinazione dell'uomo
2020
Conceived by Kant as a spontaneous self-legislating activity, reason produces drives, norms and desires in which man, as a rational being, is a participant, but over which, as a finite being, he can neither fully exercise his cognitive power nor exercise his will to the very end. The expression “human reason” thus describes the condition in which we never find ourselves at home; or, rather, we live in our own house as guests who are not always at ease. That is to say, reason puts us in an embarrassing situation (Verlegenheit), because it reminds us that the space in which we think we can move so easily, and in which we trust we are well acclimatized in virtue of our knowledge and our skills…

Śródziemnomorskie kody polskości w twórczości Jana Parandowskiego
2020
One is used to regarding Jan Parandowski (1895–1978) as a great connoisseur of the ancient world and a kind of “Olympic” writer with a distance to his own time and space. A thorough exam-ination of his literary essays, short stories and novels hardly proves this opinion. Treating Polish his-tory and culture, especially of the Renaissance epoch, as originating from and inspired by the ancient Roman/Greek tradition (“Poland is situated in the Mediterranean”), he conceals at the same time an evidently emotional approach to national legacy. There are several modes in which he evokes unique Polish history in the 19th century, with the great but problematic heritage of Romanticism as well as the …
Predetermined for Predestination? On the Assumed Notion of Predestination in the Dead Sea Scrolls
2019
The present article argues that the concept of predestination does not on the whole lend itself to Qumran studies. Unlike the writings of Augustine and Calvin, the scrolls contain nothing like a do...
Talis hominibus fuit oratio qualis vita. Nietzsche y la narración de sí
2015
Ecce Homo certainly is an unconventional autobiography. Both its structure and its contents are in fact quite different from that traditionally adopted. First, in Ecce Homo life and literary production basically coincide; second, in that book Nietzsche deals with an “I” which is not the traditional “subject” of Western philosophy. In this paper I shall argue that in Ecce Homo Nietzsche tries to develop a new kind of subjectivity. In particular, Nietzsche rejects the idea of an unchanging, absolute, substance subject, and sees it as a mobile construction, something that can be described only insofar as it “becomes what it is”, that is, as it consciously reacts to its unavoidable destiny.

Emigración magrebí a Europa y al País Valencia
2003
