MICELLAR LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHIC DETERMINATION OF ANTI-CONVULSANT DRUGS IN PILLS AND CAPSULES

A simple chromatographic procedure is reported for the determination of several anti-convulsant drugs in pharmaceuticals: carbamazepine, and the benzodiazepines bentazepam, halazepam, oxazepam, pinazepam, and tetrazepam. The procedure utilizes a C18 column, a hybrid micellar mobile phase of 0.1 M SDS-3% butanol-0.1% triethylamine-0.01 M phosphate buffer (pH 3), and UV detection (230 nm). The drugs eluted in less than 13 min, in accordance to their relative polarities, as indicated by their octanol-water partition coefficients. Abstract A method for the analysis of dimethylamine (DMA) by automated in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME)-supported chemical derivatization coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography was developed. Extraction, derivatization and desorption were studied by using a capillary coated with 95% polydimethylsiloxane and 5% polydiphenylsiloxane. Solution derivatization and automated IT-SPME derivatization using 9-fluorenylmethyl chloroformate (FMOC) were compared. The proposed procedure provided adequate linearity, accuracy and precision in the 0.2–2.0 μg/mL concentration interval, and the limit of detection (LOD) was 50 ng/mL. Simultaneous detection of hazardous skin whitening agents in Indian cosmetic products using a green chromatographic technique

The present work mainly highlights the simultaneous detection of four skin whitening agents i.e. hydroquinone (HQ), resorcinol (RS), catechol (CC) and 3,3′-dichlorobenzidine (DCB) in facial creams and body lotion. Among these, the first three are positional isomers of dihydroxybenzene so simultaneous separation is difficult with the conventional reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic technique (RP-HPLC). Development of a simple and low cost device for vapour phase Fourier Transform Infrared spectrometry determination of ethanol in mouthwashes

Abstract A new vapour phase manifold coupled with Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was developed for ethanol determination in mouthwashes. Two microliters of samples were injected, without any previous pre-treatment into a reactor heated at 70 °C, and the vapour phase generated transported to the FTIR spectrometer using a carrier nitrogen flow of 6 ml min−1. FTIR spectra were continuously recorded, as a function of time, by accumulating two scans and employing 8 cm−1 nominal resolution. FT–Raman spectrometry determination of Malathion in pesticide formulations

Abstract A fast and environmentally friendly method has been developed for Fourier transform–Raman (FT–Raman) spectrometry determination of Malathion in pesticide emulsifiable concentrate formulations. The method is based on the measurement of intensity peak height values at 1737 cm −1 Raman shift corrected using a baseline defined at 1900 cm −1 . Samples were diluted with CHCl 3 and the FT–Raman spectra collected in back-scattering mode over 3.3 min at a nominal resolution of 4 cm −1 accumulating 50 scans per spectra and using a laser power of 1250 mW. An Infrared Method, with Reduced Solvent Consumption, for the Determination of Chlorsulfuron in Pesticide Formulations

A simple method has been developed for the determination of Chlorsulfuron in pesticide formulations by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). Samples were diluted with CHCl3− , and the FTIR spectra of the samples and standards were obtained at a nominal resolution of 4 cm− 1 from 4000 to 900 cm− 1 with the accumulation of 25 scans. Chlorsulfuron determination was based on the measurement of peak area values from 1373 to 1363 cm− 1 which were corrected by use of a two points baseline defined from 1401 to 1302 cm− 1. A procedure based on quantitative real-time PCR was evaluated for the detection and quantification of Bacillus cereus spores. Several methods for DNA isolation, such as various heat treatments and germination solutions, were evaluated on spore suspensions of representative strains of the B. cereus group. Overall, the commercially available DNeasy tissue kit yielded the maximum amount of DNA. A capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) procedure for the determination of l-ascorbic acid (AA) and total ascorbic acid (TAA, as the sum of AA and dehydroascorbic acid) in vascular plants, lichens, bryophytes, and liverworts is described. The samples were frozen in liquid nitrogen and extracted with 2% metaphosphoric acid. To determine AA, an aliquot was directly injected in a fused-silica capillary.
