Measurement of deuteron spectra and elliptic flow in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV at the LHC

2017

The transverse momentum (pT) spectra and elliptic flow coefficient (v2) of deuterons and anti-deuterons at mid-rapidity (|y| 1.8 GeV/c within the experimental uncertainties. The measurement of the coalescence parameter B2 is performed, showing a pT dependence in contrast with the simplest coalescence model, which fails to reproduce also the measured v2 coefficient. In addition, the coalescence parameter B2 and the elliptic flow coefficient in the 20–40% centrality interval are compared with the AMPT model which is able, in its version without string melting, to reproduce the measured v2(pT) and the B2(pT) trend. peerReviewed

Neutron polarizabilities investigated by quasi-free Compton scattering from the deuteron

2002

Measuring Compton scattered photons and recoil neutrons in coincidence, quasifree Compton scattering by the neutron has been investigated at MAMI (Mainz) at ${\ensuremath{\theta}}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}^{\mathrm{lab}}\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}136\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$ in an energy range from 200 to 400 MeV. Precise Measurement of the Neutron Magnetic Form FactorGMnin the Few-GeV2Region

2009

The neutron elastic magnetic form factor was extracted from quasielastic electron scattering on deuterium over the range Q;{2}=1.0-4.8 GeV2 with the CLAS detector at Jefferson Lab. High precision was achieved with a ratio technique and a simultaneous in situ calibration of the neutron detection efficiency. Neutrons were detected with electromagnetic calorimeters and time-of-flight scintillators at two beam energies. The dipole parametrization gives a good description of the data.

Losses and depolarization of ultracold neutrons on neutron guide and storage materials

2017

At Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) and Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), we have measured the losses and depolarization probabilities of ultracold neutrons on various materials: (i) nickel-molybdenum alloys with weight percentages of 82/18, 85/15, 88/12, 91/9, and 94/6 and natural nickel Ni100, (ii) nickel-vanadium NiV93/7, (iii) copper, and (iv) deuterated polystyrene (dPS). For the different samples, storage-time constants up to $\ensuremath{\sim}460\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}\mathrm{s}$ were obtained at room temperature. The corresponding loss parameters for ultracold neutrons, $\ensuremath{\eta}$, varied between $1.0\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$ and $2.2\ifmmode\t…

Helicity dependence of the total inclusive cross section on the deuteron

2009

Abstract A measurement of the helicity dependence of the total inclusive photoabsorption cross section on the deuteron was carried out at MAMI (Mainz) in the energy range 200 E γ 800 MeV . The experiment used a 4 π detection system, a circularly polarized tagged photon beam and a frozen spin target which provided longitudinally polarized deuterons. These new results are a significant improvement on the existing data and allow a detailed comparison with state-of-the-art calculations.

Spin lattice relaxation rates of tunnelling CD3 groups

1991

The spin lattice relaxation rates of deuterated methyl groups are calculated for threefold and sixfold potentials. It is shown that it should be possible to determine the symmetry of the potential hindering the methyl groups from deuteron spin lattice relaxation experiments. The temperature dependence of the spin lattice relaxation rates is discussed using a simple model. The similarities and the differences between proton NMR and deuteron NMR are pointed out. The main difference is thatEa↔Eb transitions are forbidden by spin selection rules in case of CH3, but not for CD3. Therefore, and due to the fact that the quadrupolar interaction is a single particle interaction, deuteron NMR allows …

A coupled channel calculation of the double-?(1 236) component of the deuteron

1975

TheΔΔ-component of the deuteron is calculated in a full coupled channel calculation including a diagonalΔ-Δ-interaction and compared to the impulse approximation. Without a diagonalΔ-Δ-interaction both methods give very similar results while inclusion of theΔ-Δ-interaction leads to a decrease of the (ΔΔ)-probability of about 25%. The main uncertainties originate from limited knowledge of coupling constants and cut-off ranges. Accordingly the (ΔΔ)-probability varies between 0.3 and 1 percent.
