Composition of a New Process to Meet Agile Needs Using Method Engineering
2005
The need of developing a new software engineering process to allow the quick prototyping of some robotic applications and meet the requests by some companies for a development process that was shorter than PASSI, gave us the opportunity of applying our studies on the assembling of a new SEP by reusing parts (called method fragments) from other processes. In this paper we discuss our approach that, starting from the method engineering paradigm, adapts and extends it considering specific agent-oriented issues like the multi-agent system meta-model. The final result of our experiment (Agile PASSI) is presented together with the requirements that motivated its structure. © Springer-Verlag Berli…
A new design approach for customised medical devices realized by additive manufacturing
2020
AbstractThe aim of this work is the design of a new customised elbow orthosis completely realized by Additive Manufacturing and the development of generative algorithms for parametric modelling and creation of 3D patterns to be adapted to the CAD model. This work describes a method to perfect the design of a custom elbow orthosis. A reverse engineering approach has been used to digitalize the patient’s arm and the subsequent CAD modelling of the structure of the custom elbow orthosis has been performed. In particular, two algorithms have been implemented for the creation of 3D patterns and Voronoi tessellations. Subsequently, FEM analyses have been carried out to validate the design. Finall…
Current-induced domain wall motion in nanoscale ferromagnetic elements
2011
The manipulation of a magnetic domain wall (DW) by a spin polarized current in ferromagnetic nanowires has attracted tremendous interest during the last years due to fundamental questions in the fields of spin dependent transport phenomena and magnetization dynamics but also due to promising applications, such as DW based magnetic memory concepts and logic devices. We comprehensively review recent developments in the field of geometrically confined domain walls and in particular current induced DW dynamics. We focus on the influence of the magnetic and electronic transport properties of the materials on the spin transfer effect in DWs. After considering the different DW structures in ferrom…
Pulsations in the late-type Be star HD 50 209 detected by CoRoT
2009
The presence of pulsations in late-type Be stars is still a matter of controversy. It constitutes an important issue to establish the relationship between non-radial pulsations and the mass-loss mechanism in Be stars. To contribute to this discussion, we analyse the photometric time series of the B8IVe star HD 50209 observed by the CoRoT mission in the seismology field. We use standard Fourier techniques and linear and non-linear least squares fitting methods to analyse the CoRoT light curve. In addition, we applied detailed modelling of high-resolution spectra to obtain the fundamental physical parameters of the star. We have found four frequencies which correspond to gravity modes with az…
Biometric variation in three strains of Brachionus plicatilis as a direct response to abiotic variables
1987
Morphometric variation in three clones of Brachionus plicatilis cultured at 20°C, 25°C and 30°C, and 9‰, 12‰ and 24‰ salinity was analysed. Size appeared to be largely under genetic control and this defined the narrow limits within which variation due to abiotic factors could occur. Temperature had a significant effect on size, but affected the three clones differently. The most general effect of temperature was a reduction in size which levelled off as the temperature rose. Of the measurements taken, only distance between the median spines was affected by salinity. An important inter-relationship between the effects of temperature and salinity was also detected.
Size variation in Brachionus plicatilis resting eggs
1989
The effect of temperature and salinity on resting egg size of two Brachionus plicatilis (Rotifera) clones was investigated. Clones were selected according to their different behaviour in laying resting eggs: one clone ejects them, whereas they remain inside the females body in the other clone. The difference in resting eggs size between the two clones is noticeable, although the difference is not as great as that between female body size. An important temperature-salinity interaction on resting egg size has been observed. The general inverse relationship between size and temperature is only true at lower temperatures. At high temperatures size varies around the mean although could be greate…
Danau Laut Balbullol di Misool Raja Ampat
2018
xloops - Automated Feynman diagram calculation
1998
The program package xloops, a general, model independent tool for the calculation of high energy processes up to the two-loop level, is introduced. xloops calculates massive one- and two-loop Feynman diagrams in the standard model and related theories both analytically and numerically. A user-friendly Xwindows frontend is part of the package. xloops relies on the application of parallel space techniques. The treatment of tensor structure and the separation of divergences in analytic expressions is described in this scheme. All analytic calculations are performed with Maple. We describe the mathematical methods and computer algebra techniques xloops uses and give a brief introduction how to …
Optimal implementation of neural activation functions in programmable logic using fuzzy logic
2006
Abstract This work presents a methodology for implementing neural activation function in programmable logic using tools from fuzzy logic. This methodology will allow implementing these intrinsic non-linear functions using comparators and simple linear modellers, easily implemented in programmable logic. This work is particularized to the case of a hyperbolic tangent, the most common function in neural models, showing the excellent results yielded with the proposed approximation.
PMG-Pro: A Model-Driven Development Method of Service-Based Applications
2011
Published version of a chapter published in the book: SDL 2011: Integrating System and Software Modeling. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-25264-8_12 In the Internet of Things, billions of networked and software-driven devices will be connected to the Internet. They can communicate and cooperate with each other to form a composite system. In this paper, we propose PMG-pro (present, model, generate and provide), a language independent, bottom-up and model-driven method for the development of such composite system. We envision that all devices in the Internet of Things provide their functionalities as services. From a service description, a service pre…
