Single-Component Magnetic Conductors Based on Mo3S7 Trinuclear Clusters with Outer Dithiolate Ligands

A trinuclear cluster complex containing the Mo(3)S(7) central unit coordinated to dithiolate ligands, in particular the organic dmit (1,3-dithia-2-thione-4,5-dithiolate) anion, has been used to prepare a single-component molecular conductor formed by the threefold symmetry magnetic building block Mo(3)S(7)(dmit)(3) (1). The [Mo(3)S(7)(dmit)(3)](2)(-) ([1](2)(-)) diamagnetic anion forms dimers by interaction between the electrophilic cluster axial sulfur atoms and the sulfur atoms of the outer dithiolate ligand. Exciton mass increase in a GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well in a transverse magnetic field

In this work we have investigated the exciton reflectance spectra of a high quality heterostructure with a GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well in a transverse magnetic field (Voigt geometry). It has been shown that application of the magnetic field leads to a decrease of energy distance between spectral features related to the excitonlike polariton modes. This effect has been treated as the magneto-induced increase of the exciton mass. We have shown that the hydrogenlike and diamagnetic exciton models are insufficient to describe the exciton behavior in the intermediate magnetic fields studied. Current density maps, magnetizability, and nuclear magnetic shielding tensors of bis-heteropentalenes. III. Thieno-thiophene isomers

Near Hartree–Fock values of the magnetic susceptibility and nuclear magnetic shielding of bis-heteropentalenes consisting of two thiophene units ([2,3-b], [3,2-b], [3,4-b], and [3,4-c] isomers) have been estimated via computational schemes relying on continuous transformation of the origin of the current density within the coupled Hartree–Fock approximation and extended gaugeless Gaussian basis sets. The results are compared with those obtained via London gauge-including orbitals. Spin transition in [Fe(phen)2(NCS)2] - �SR study

The reversible thermal spin transition which occurs in [Fe(phen)(2)(NCS)(2)] around T-1/2 similar to 177 K has been investigated by muon spin relaxation (muSR) (similar to10-280 K). The depolarisation curves are well described by two Lorentzian lines represent fast and slow components in the decay curves, with the initial asymmetry parameter of the fast component found to track the spin transition in [Fe(phen)2(NCS),]. Comparison of zero-field and transverse field (20 Oe) muSR measurements shows that diamagnetic muonic species occur over the entire temperature range.

Influence of diamagnetic impurity on mid‐IR absorption in antiferromagnetic insulator NiO

-1 was studied in polycrystalline Ni c Mg 1-c O solid solutions with c=0.99, 0.98, 0.97, 0.95, 0.90, 0.80, 0.70 and 0.60. The composition and temperature dependences of the absorption suggest that the band has magnetic origin re- lated to simultaneous excitation of two-magnons at the Brillouin-zone boundary and one phonon. -1 in polycrystalline NicMg1-cO solid solutions. Polycrystalline solid solutions NicMg1-cO (c=0.99, 0.98, 0.97, 0.95, 0.90, 0.80, 0.70 and 0.60) were prepared using ceramic technology from the appropriate amounts of aqueous solutions of Mg(NO3)2·6H2O and Ni(NO3)2·6H2O salts, which were mixed and slowly evaporated. Selective Photoswitching of the Binuclear Spin Crossover Compound{[Fe(bt)(NCS)2]2(bpm)}into Two Distinct Macroscopic Phases

The low-spin (LS-LS, $S=0$) diamagnetic form of the binuclear spin crossover complex ${[\mathrm{Fe}(\mathrm{bt})(\mathrm{NCS}{)}_{2}{]}_{2}(\mathrm{bpm})}$ was selectively photoconverted into two distinct macroscopic phases at different excitation wavelengths (1342 or 647.1 nm). These long-lived metastable phases have been identified, respectively, as the symmetry-broken paramagnetic form (HS-LS, $\mathrm{S}=2$) and the antiferromagnetically coupled (HS-HS, $S=0$) high-spin form of the compound. The selectivity may be explained by the strong coupling of the primary excited states to the paramagnetic state.

On/Off Photoswitching in a Cyanide-Bridged {Fe2Co2} Magnetic Molecular Square

International audience; A repeatable bidirectional paramagnetic ↔ diamagnetic photomagnetic effect has been observed in the cyanide-bridged Fe-Co square complex {[Fe{B(pz)(4)}(CN)(3)](2)[Co(bik)(2)](2)}(ClO(4))(2)*3H(2)O [B(pz)(4) = tetrapyrazolylborate, bik = bis(1-methylimidazol-2-yl)ketone]. Magnetic measurements and low-temperature single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiments have shown that a complete electron transfer from the diamagnetic Fe(II)-Co(III) state to the paramagnetic Fe(III)-Co(II) metastable state is induced by 808 nm laser light irradiation, whereas the diamagnetic state is recovered in an almost quantitative yield under irradiation at 532 nm.

33S hyperfine interactions in H2S and SO2 and revision of the sulfur nuclear magnetic shielding scale

Using the Lamb-dip technique, the hyperfine structure in the rotational spectra of H2(33)S and (33)SO2 has been resolved and the corresponding parameters--that is, the sulfur quadrupole-coupling and spin-rotation tensors--were determined. The experimental parameters are in good agreement with results from high-level coupled-cluster calculations, provided that up to quadruple excitations are considered in the cluster operator, sufficiently large basis sets are used, and vibrational corrections are accounted for.
