ABSTRACT Background The study aimed to investigate the role of medical history (skin warts, Candida albicans, herpetic lesions, heartburn, regurgitation) and medication use (for heartburn; for regurgitation; aspirin) in the aetiology of upper aerodigestive tract (UADT) cancer. The Medication Use Patterns, Treatment Satisfaction, and Inadequate Control of Osteoporosis Study (MUSIC-OS) is a prospective, observational study of women with osteoporosis in Europe and Canada. The use of gerunds and infinitives in perceptive constructions

In this article I compare the use of gerunds with perceptive verbs in Spanish and in Gardenese, a Rhaeto-Romance variety spoken in Northern Italy: perceptive gerunds are used as secondary predicates in Spanish, but as defective TP-complements in Gardenese. Following Rizzi’s (2014) account of parametric variation, I propose that the differences are due to the interplay of three parameters: a [+progressive] feature on Gardenese perception verbs, the pure lexical status of perception verbs in Gardenese and a [+Agreement] feature on Spanish gerunds. This chapter deals with IGOs in respect of one of four parts of agricultural products and foodstuffs within the direct protection system, namely wines (wine sector products) except aromatised wines which are covered by a separate regulation, i.e. the Aromatised Wines Regulation discussed within the next chapter. IGOs in respect of wines are currently regulated by the Single CMO Regulation within the framework of the common agricultural policy (CAP). The competence of EU institutions within the CAP is shared and is subject to the principle of proportionality.

As it was characterised in Chap. 5 of this book, protection of IGOs in the EU law consists of two protection systems: the direct protection system and the indirect protection system. If the first protection system is generally ensured through the applicable Regulations that are applicable without their further transposition into the national law of EU Member States, the other one is generally ensured through directives to be further transposed into the national law of EU Member States.

Aims Early exit from the workforce has been proposed to be one of the unfavorable consequences of diabetes. We examined whether early exit from the workforce differed between persons who were and were not diagnosed with diabetes during their work career. Methods The cohort included 12,726 individuals of the Helsinki Birth Cohort Study, born between 1934 and 1944. Using data from nationwide registers, the cohort was followed up from early adulthood until they transitioned into retirement or died.
