Money in an Estimated Business Cycle Model of the Euro Area

We present maximum likelihood estimates of a small scale dynamic general equilibrium model for the Eurozone. We pay special attention to the role of money, both through its direct effect upon private agents’ decisions and as a component of the monetary policy rule. Our results can be summarized as follows. First, we find no direct effect of money upon inflation and output but money growth plays a significant role in the interest rate rule. Second, money demand shocks mainly help to forecast real balances while real shocks explain the bulk of price, output and interest rates fluctuations. This article explores how Norwegian record label managers understand their current positions and future possibilities in a market that is increasingly driven by on-demand subscription-based streaming. It adds to a growing body of research by adopting a qualitative approach, seeking to describe issues at a personal or company level, and provide nuance and dynamics in a discourse that is often described in dichotomies and on aggregate levels. This article focuses on a young teacher-researcher’s beliefs about language and language skills. The research is motivated by findings of former studies according with which teachers’ beliefs are often relatively permanent and have a strong effect on their teaching and evaluation practices. The data consists of a teacher-researcher’s diary notes from storytelling events (n=19) in which storycrafting has been used with young primary school pupils. Dichotomies properties on computational complexity of S-packing coloring problems

This work establishes the complexity class of several instances of the S -packing coloring problem: for a graph G , a positive integer k and a nondecreasing list of integers S = ( s 1 , ? , s k ) , G is S -colorable if its vertices can be partitioned into sets S i , i = 1 , ? , k , where each S i is an s i -packing (a set of vertices at pairwise distance greater than s i ). In particular we prove a dichotomy between NP-complete problems and polynomial-time solvable problems for lists of at most four integers.
Money and the natural rate of interest: structural estimates for the United States and the Euro area

We examine the role of money, allowing for three competing environments: the New Keynesian model with separable utility and static money demand; a non-separable utility variant with habit formation; and a version with adjustment costs for holding real balances. The last two variants imply forward-looking behavior of real money balances, as it is optimal for agents to allow their forecast of future interest rates to affect current portfolio decisions. We distinguish between these specifications by conducting a structural econometric analysis for the U.S. and the euro area. FIML estimates confirm the forward-looking character of money demand.
