Genome-wide homozygosity and risk of four non-Hodgkin lymphoma subtypes

Aim: Recessive genetic variation is thought to play a role in non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) etiology. Runs of homozygosity (ROH), defined based on long, continuous segments of homozygous SNPs, can be used to estimate both measured and unmeasured recessive genetic variation. Muon energy reconstruction in ANTARES and its application to the diffuse neutrino flux

The European collaboration ANTARES aims to operate a large neutrino telescope in the Mediterranean Sea, 2400 m deep, 40 km from Toulon (France). Muon neutrinos are detected through the muon produced in charged current interactions in the medium surrounding the detector. The Cherenkov light emitted by the muon is registered by a 3D photomultiplier array. Muon energy can be inferred using 3 different methods based on the knowledge of the features of muon energy losses.They result in an energy resolution of a factor \~ 2 above 1 TeV. Pd nanoparticles formation inside porous polymeric scaffolds followed by in situ XANES/SAXS

International audience; Simultaneous time-resolved SAXS and XANES techniques were employed to follow in situ the formation of Pd nanoparticles from palladium acetate precursor in two porous polymeric supports: polystyrene (PS) and poly(4-vinyl-pyridine) (P4VP). In this study we have investigated the effect of the use of different reducing agents (H-2 and CO) from the gas phase. These results, in conjunction with data obtained by diffuse reflectance IR (DRIFT) spectroscopy and TEM measurements, allowed us to unravel the different roles played by gaseous H-2 and CO in the formation of the Pd nanoparticles for both PS and P4VP hosting scaffolds

Au/TiO2-CeO2 Catalysts for Photocatalytic Water Splitting and VOCs Oxidation Reactions

Photocatalytic water splitting for H2 production and photocatalytic oxidation of 2-propanol, an example of volatile organic compounds, were investigated over TiO2 catalysts loaded with gold and/or ceria. In the water splitting reaction the presence of gold only slightly affected the performance of TiO2 whereas the presence of CeO2 had a more remarkable positive effect. In the 2-propanol oxidation Au/TiO2 was the most active sample in terms of alcohol conversion whereas Au/TiO2-CeO2 exhibited the highest CO2 yield. Total (fumarolic + diffuse soil) CO2 output from Furnas volcano

Furnas volcano, in São Miguel island (Azores), being the surface expression of rising hydrothermal steam, is the site of intense carbon dioxide (CO2) release by diffuse degassing and fumaroles. While the diffusive CO2 output has long (since the early 1990s) been characterized by soil CO2 surveys, no information is presently available on the fumarolic CO2 output. Here, we performed (in August 2014) a study in which soil CO2 degassing survey was combined for the first time with the measurement of the fumarolic CO2 flux. The Pyridyl Functional Groups Guide the Formation of Pd Nanoparticles Inside A Porous Poly(4-Vinyl-Pyridine)

The reactivity of palladium acetate inside a poly(4-vinylpyridine-co-divinylbenzene) polymer is strongly influenced by the establishment of interaction between the Pd precursor and the pyridyl functional group in the polymer. Diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) and simultaneous X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) and small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) techniques have been applied to monitor the reactivity of palladium acetate in the presence of H-2 and CO as a function of temperature.
