Transformation of follicular lymphoma to diffuse large cell lymphoma is associated with a heterogeneous set of DNA copy number and gene expression al…
2002
AbstractGenomic aberrations in a series of paired biopsy samples from patients who presented initially with follicle center lymphoma (FCL) and subsequently transformed to diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) were measured by array comparative genomic hybridization (CGH). The consequences of these aberrations on gene expression were determined by comparison with expression analysis on these specimens using cDNA microarrays. A heterogeneous pattern of acquired genomic abnormalities was observed upon transformation, some of which were recurrent in small subsets of patients. Some of the genomic aberration acquired upon transformation, such as gain/amplification of 1q21-q24, 2p16 (REL/BCL11A ge…
Improved detection limit for ammonium/ammonia achieved by Berthelot's reaction by use of solid-phase extraction coupled to diffuse reflectance spectr…
2005
Abstract The proposed procedure is based on the extraction of the indothylmol blue into C 18 solid-phase extraction (SPE) membranes and direct quantification on the membrane surface by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The analytical performance of the proposed method has been evaluated for standard solutions of ammonium using reflectance values, R , as well as the Kubelka–Munk function, F ( R ). The results have been compared with those obtained by the conventional method, which uses UV–vis absorption spectroscopy with a sensor-based method. The described methodology provided satisfactory linearity and reproducibility within the ammonium concentration intervals 25–250 μg L −1 and 25–500 μg…
Contact and contactless diffuse reflectance spectroscopy: potential for recovery monitoring of vascular lesions after intense pulsed light treatment.
2011
Optical fiber contact probe diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and remote multispectral imaging methods in the spectral range of 400 to 1100 nm were used for skin vascular malformation assessment and recovery tracing after treatment by intense pulsed light. The results confirmed that oxy-hemoglobin relative changes and the optical density difference between lesion and healthy skin in the spectral region 500 to 600 nm may be successfully used for objective appraisal of the therapy effect. Color redness parameter a* = 2 is suggested as a diagnostic border to distinguish healthy skin and vascular lesions, and as the indicator of phototreatment efficiency. Valuable diagnostic information on large…
Keggin heteropolyacid H3PW12O40 supported on different oxides for catalytic and catalytic photo-assisted propene hydration
2013
Catalytic and catalytic photo-assisted hydration of propene to form 2-propanol in gas–solid regime at atmospheric pressure and 85 1C were carried out by using a heteropolyacid (POM) supported on different oxides. Binary materials were prepared by impregnation of H3PW12O40 on different commercial and home prepared supports (TiO2, SiO2, WO3, ZrO2, ZnO, Al2O3). Some of the composites were active both for catalytic and catalytic photo-assisted reactions. The Keggin type POM was completely and partially degraded, when supported on ZnO and Al2O3, respectively, and these binary solids always resulted as inactive for both catalytic and catalytic photo-assisted reactions. The supported Keggin POM sp…
New zeolite-like RUB-5 and its related hydrous layer silicate RUB-6 structurally characterized by electron microscopy.
2020
RUB-5 and its related hydrous layer silicate RUB-6 were synthesized in the 1990s, but so far their structures have remained unknown due to their low crystallinity and disorder. The combination of 3D electron diffraction, X-ray powder diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, structural modelling and diffraction simulations has enabled a comprehensive description of these two nanomaterials, revealng a new framework topology and a unique silica polymorph.

Detection of H. pylori induced gastric inflammation by diffuse reflectance analysis
2018
International audience; Spectral acquisitions contain rich information and thus, are promising modalities for early detection of gastric diseases. In this study, we analyze the diffuse reflectance of the gastric inflammatory lesions induced by the bacterium H. pylori in the mouse stomach. A pipeline has been designed to characterize and classify spectra acquired on mice. The pipeline is based on a band clustering algorithm followed by the computation of meaningful division and subtraction features and by classification with a linear SVM classifier. Currently, the pipeline is able to recognize inflamed stomachs spectra with an accuracy of 98%. These results are promising and the same pipelin…
Orthotropic plate dynamics by a novel meshfree method
2003
Publisher Summary This chapter deals with a novel meshfree method for the dynamic analysis of orthotropic plates under the Kirchhoff small deflection theory. The approach starts from a modified function whose stationarity conditions lead to the meshfree plate dynamic model through a discretization process—based on the use of orthotropic plate static fundamental solutions. The resolving system obtained is characterized by—frequency independent stiffness and mass matrices, which preserve the symmetry and definiteness properties of the continuum. Moreover, these operators are computed by boundary integrals of regular kernels. The method allows the application of standard numerical routines ava…

A simple model for computing diffuse solar radiation
1989
In this paper a very simple model for predicting the daily diffuse solar radiation at any Italian location using as input few extensively measured meteorological parameters is proposed. In fact the daily diffuse radiation D, MJ.m−2.day−1, here is correlated with only the relative sunshine duration sS and the noon altitude of the sun on the 15th of the month hn, degrees, by the following equation: D=7(sS−(sinhn)1.55 . The validity of this formula is verified using monthly mean daily data from four Italian stations displaced at various latitudes or altitudes or geographical situations (inland or coastal site). The test results show that the deviations between the measured and the computed val…
