Quantitative colorimetric-imaging analysis of nickel in iron meteorites.

A quantitative analytical imaging approach for determining the nickel content of metallic meteorites is proposed. The approach uses a digital image of a series of standard solutions of the nickel-dimethylglyoxime coloured chelate and a meteorite sample solution subjected to the same treatment as the nickel standards for quantitation. The image is processed with suitable software to assign a colour-dependent numerical value (analytical signal) to each standard. Such a value is directly proportional to the analyte concentration, which facilitates construction of a calibration graph where the value for the unknown sample can be interpolated to calculate the nickel content of the meteorite. During digital transformation, companies integrate digital technologies creating large and complex digital infrastructures. These digital infrastructures hold combinatory affordances enabling companies to achieve outcomes that are more than the sum of their parts (i.e., the individual digital technologies). Owing to the complexity of digital infrastructures, these combinatory affordances are ever-present but hidden in the thicket of the infrastructure making their effective use a challenge. Cascaded adaptive-mask algorithm for twin-image removal and its application to digital holograms of ice crystals.

An iterative Gerchberg-Saxton-type algorithm with a support constraint for twin-image removal from reconstructed Gabor inline holograms of single plane objects is described. It is applied to simulated holograms and to holograms of ice crystals recorded in the laboratory and in atmospheric clouds in situ. The algorithm is characterized by a distinction between object and background region and an iterative adaption of the object mask. Urban Landscape in the Graphic Representations of the Cathedral of Palermo

The present study offers some reflections on the relationship between the cathedral of Palermo and the urban area in which it insists, regarding the indissoluble link with the landscape aspect that through the history offered a variety of perceptive suggestions, marked by the passage and presence of different dominations. The cognitive storytelling of the cathedral of Palermo is obtained through a graphic study on routes which provided of multiple images keeping the scar of time in the elaboration of orographic sections and perspective views and highlighting the role of perception in this changing combination of architecture and landscape.

Abstract The mechanical properties of bituminous mixture strongly depend on the gradation of the aggregate that represents the mineral skeleton of the mixture, since for open and gap-graded mixtures, stresses due to vehicles in movement on the pavement are mainly transmitted through their contacts.
