New Accurate Fit of an Extended Set of Saturation Data for the ν3 Band of SF6: Comparison of Hamiltonians in the Spherical and Cubic Tensor Formalisms

2000

An extended set of 321 frequencies of vibration-rotation lines of the nu(3) band of SF(6) has been measured by saturation spectroscopy using various isotopic species of CO(2). A least-squares fit of these data has been performed using an effective Hamiltonian written either with a spherical tensor or with a cubic tensor formalism. We have derived correspondence formulas between the parameters in the two approaches and checked that both formalisms give the same results up to the seventh order. Corrected parameters are given for the fit with a fifth-order Hamiltonian. An accurate representation of the band is obtained at the tenth order (standard deviation approximately 12 kHz) with a remarka…

High Reynolds number Navier-Stokes solutions and boundary layer separation induced by a rectilinear vortex array

2008

Numerical solutions of Prandtl’s equation and Navier Stokes equations are considered for the two dimensional flow induced by an array of periodic rec- tilinear vortices interacting with an infinite plane. We show how this initial datum develops a separation singularity for Prandtl equation. We investigate the asymptotic validity of boundary layer theory considering numerical solu- tions for the full Navier Stokes equations at high Reynolds numbers.

Dimension of the isometry group in three-dimensional Riemannian spaces

2021

The necessary and sufficient conditions for a three-dimensional Riemannian metric to admit a group of isometries of dimension $r$ acting on s-dimensional orbits are obtained. These conditions are Intrinsic, Deductive, Explicit and ALgorithmic and they offer an IDEAL labeling that improves previously known invariant studies.

Tripartite separability conditions exponentially violated by Gaussian states

2014

Starting with a set of conditions for bipartite separability of arbitrary quantum states in any dimension and expressed in terms of arbitrary operators whose commutator is a $c$-number, we derive a hierarchy of conditions for tripartite separability of continuous-variable three-mode quantum states. These conditions have the form of inequalities for higher-order moments of linear combinations of the mode operators. They enable one to distinguish between all possible kinds of tripartite separability, while the strongest violation of these inequalities is a sufficient condition for genuine tripartite entanglement. We construct Gaussian states for which the violation of our conditions grows exp…

Generation of minimum energy entangled states

2020

Quantum technologies exploiting bipartite entanglement could be made more efficient by using states having the minimum amount of energy for a given entanglement degree. Here, we study how to generate these states in the case of a bipartite system of arbitrary finite dimension either by applying a unitary transformation to its ground state or through a zero-temperature thermalization protocol based on turning on and off a suitable interaction term between the subsystems. In particular, we explicitly identify three possible unitary operators and five possible interaction terms. On the one hand, two of the three unitary transformations turn out to be easily decomposable in terms of local eleme…

Open multistate Majorana model

2019

Abstract The Majorana model in the presence of dissipation and dephasing is considered. First, it is proven that increasing the Hilbert space dimension the system becomes more and more fragile to quantum noise, whether dephasing or dissipation are mainly present. Second, it is shown that, contrary to its ideal counterpart, the dynamics related to the open Majorana model cannot be considered as the combined dynamics of a set of independent spin-1/2 models.

N-dimensional alternate coined quantum walks from a dispersion-relation perspective

2013

We propose an alternative definition of an N-dimensional coined quantum walk by generalizing a recent proposal [Di Franco et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 106, 080502 (2011)]. This N-dimensional alternate quantum walk, AQW_N, in contrast with the standard definition of the N-dimensional quantum walk, QW_N, requires only a coin-qubit. We discuss the quantum diffusion properties of AQW_2 and AQW_3 by analyzing their dispersion relations that reveal, in particular, the existence of diabolical points. This allows us to highlight interesting similarities with other well known physical phenomena. We also demonstrate that AQW_3 generates genuine multipartite entanglement. Finally we discuss the implementa…

Relaxation due to random collisions with a many-qudit environment

2008

We analyze the dynamics of a system qudit of dimension mu sequentially interacting with the nu-dimensional qudits of a chain playing the ore of an environment. Each pairwise collision has been modeled as a random unitary transformation. The relaxation to equilibrium of the purity of the system qudit, averaged over random collisions, is analytically computed by means of a Markov chain approach. In particular, we show that the steady state is the one corresponding to the steady state for random collisions with a single environment qudit of effective dimension nu_e=nu*mu. Finally, we numerically investigate aspects of the entanglement dynamics for qubits (mu=nu=2) and show that random unitary …

Spin chains for two-qubit teleportation

2019

Generating high-quality multi-particle entanglement between communicating parties is the primary resource in quantum teleportation protocols. To this aim, we show that the natural dynamics of a single spin chain is able to sustain the generation of two pairs of Bell states - possibly shared between a sender and a distant receiver - which can in turn enable two-qubit teleportation. In particular, we address a spin-1/2 chain with XX interactions, connecting two pairs of spins located at its boundaries, playing the roles of sender and receiver. In the regime where both end pairs are weakly coupled to the spin chain, it is possible to generate at predefinite times a state that has vanishing inf…

QCD condensates from tau-decay data: A functional approach

2004

We study a functional method to extract the V − A condensate of dimension 6 from a comparison of τ -decay data with the asymptotic space-like QCD prediction. Our result is in agreement within errors with that from conventional analyses based on finite energy sum rules.
