Electron-Correlated Methods for the Calculation of NMR Chemical Shifts
2004
Solid-state 1H-NMR relaxation properties of the fruit of a wild relative of eggplant at different proton Larmor frequencies
2009
1H longitudinal relaxation time profiles (T1) at different proton Larmor frequencies were registered for a solid state plant tissue by using fast field cycling (FFC) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. T1 distributions were obtained and the curves deconvoluted in order to differentiate among the different T1 components. Among the components, two were assigned to hydrophobic (e.g. fatty acids) and hydrophilic (e.g. saccharides) molecular systems, whereas the remaining others were attributed to bulk and bound water. This paper showed for the first time solid state FFC-NMR spectroscopy applied to plant tissue, and revealed that relaxometry is a very promising technique for studying …
Discrete Time Signal Processing Framework with Support Vector Machines
2007
Digital signal processing (DSP) of time series using SVM has been addressed in the literature with a straightforward application of the SVM kernel regression, but the assumption of independently distributed samples in regression models is not fulfilled by a time-series problem. Therefore, a new branch of SVM algorithms has to be developed for the advantageous application of SVM concepts when we process data with underlying time-series structure. In this chapter, we summarize our past, present, and future proposal for the SVM-DSP frame-work, which consists of several principles for creating linear and nonlinear SVM algorithms devoted to DSP problems. First, the statement of linear signal mod…
Are Non-Special Dimensions of Proximity in Local Clusters Related? An Analysis of 99 European Clusters
2022
The destructive effects of industries on the environment are the most crucial reason for the need for firms’ proximity to developing innovative activities such as corporate sustainability. However, most prior efforts have focused on the role of different types of proximity in cluster performances, not the relationship among them. Therefore, this study intends to go one step back, discuss the inter-relationships between different types of proximity, and propose them in a conceptual model as the antecedents of corporate sustainability. These factors are known as the non-specific dimensions of proximity within local clusters: cognitive, organisational, institutional, and social, which received…
Perturbative quantum field theory
2000
pQFT In this chapter we repeat the main steps towards a derivation of the Feynman rules, following the well-known path of canonical quantization. This is standard material, and readers who are not acquainted with such topics are referred to [Bjorken and Drell 1965, Bogoliubov and Shirkov 1980, Itzykson and Zuber 1980, Kaku 1993, Weinberg 1995, Peskin and Schroeder 1995, Teller 1997]. We hope that the short summary given here, similar to that in [Kreimer 1997a], is helpful for readers who want to refresh their memory. Having introduced Feynman rules, we next introduce Schwinger–Dyson equations as a motivation for the introduction of Z -factors. We remark on dimensional regularization and giv…
[Current developments and perspectives on the diagnosis and treatment of urinary incontinence and genital prolapse in women].
2012
As a key area of gynaecology, urogynaecology has undergone impressive changes in the past few years. Together with the high prevalence of functional pelvic floor disorders, modern anaesthesia procedures and the introduction of new, innovative minimally invasive operation techniques have led to a dramatic increase in the number of operations for incontinence and prolapses. The increasingly subtle diagnostic options, such as, e. g., 2D and 3D sonography of the pelvic floor provide unambiguous findings and facilitate decision making. Tension-free vaginal slings in retro-pubic, trans-obturator or single-incision techniques show a high success rate with few complications and have almost complete…
Reproducibility and accuracy in the morphometric and mechanical quantification of trabecular bone from 3Tesla magnetic resonance images
2014
Abstract Objective We used an animal model to analyze the reproducibility and accuracy of certain biomarkers of bone image quality in comparison to a gold standard of computed microtomography (μCT). Materials and methods We used magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and μCT to study the metaphyses of 5 sheep tibiae. The MR images (3 T) were acquired with a T1-weighted gradient echo sequence and an isotropic spatial resolution of 180 μm. The μCT images were acquired using a scanner with a spatial resolution of 7.5 μm isotropic voxels. In the preparation of the images, we applied equalization, interpolation, and thresholding algorithms. In the quantitative analysis, we calculated the percentage of …
From quantitative spatial operators to qualitative spatial relationships : a new approach applied to the detection and the semantic qualification of …
2012
This work presents the 3D Spatial Qualification tool (3DSQ) which was created tocompute spatial data stored in OWL-DL ontology. By using the adjustment principle ofan existing ontology, it is then possible to add 3D data to existing objects and computetheir spatial relationships from their 3D models. The 3DSQ Platform makes an attempt toensure the interaction between heterogeneous environments. Actually, such a semanticplatform connects an adjusted OWL ontology structure, a 3D quantification engine, avisualization engine and a set of geometry via knowledge processing technologymaterialized via SWRL, SQWRL rules and SPARQL queries within its extended Built-Ins. The created Spatial Built-Ins …
Corporate Governance Effects on Firm Performance: a Literature Review
2021
The objective of this paper is to analyze the results of recent empirical research concerning the impact of corporate governance on firm performance and reflect potential research design problems which lead to inconsistent results. By means of a literature review including all articles of academic journal data bases with a journal quality rating of at least a C-rating in the VHB Journal Rating or above ‘3’ in the ABS Academic Journal Rating, respectively, the recent empirical research articles are analyzed regarding their main results. Two main groups of studies are identified: studies on company level to determine the impact of single corporate governance variables such as board size, chai…
