Parallel Computing for the study of the focusing Davey-Stewartson II equation in semiclassical limit

The asymptotic description of the semiclassical limit of nonlinear Schrödinger equations is a major challenge with so far only scattered results in 1 + 1 dimensions. In this limit, solutions to the NLS equations can have zones of rapid modulated oscillations or blow up. We numerically study in this work the Davey-Stewartson system, a 2 + 1 dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a nonlocal term, by using parallel computing. This leads to the first results on the semiclassical limit for the Davey-Stewartson equations.

Optimal Configuration for N-Dimensional Twin Torus Networks

Torus topology is one of the most common topologies used in the current largest supercomputers. Although 3D torus is widely used, recently some supercomputers in the Top500 list have been built using networks with topologies of five or six dimensions. To obtain an nD torus, 2n ports per node are needed. These ports can be offered by a single or several cards per node. In the second case, there are multiple ways of assigning the dimension and direction of the card ports. On the power of inductive inference from good examples

Abstract The usual information in inductive inference available for the purposes of identifying an unknown recursive function f is the set of all input/output examples (x,f(x)),n eN. In contrast to this approach we show that it is considerably more powerful to work with finite sets of “good” examples even when these good examples are required to be effectively computable. The influence of the underlying numberings, with respect to which the identification has to be realized, to the capabilities of inference from good examples is also investigated. It turns out that nonstandard numberings can be much more powerful than Godel numberings.

International audience; Better characterization of the fertilizer spreading process, especially the fertilizer pattern distribution on the ground, requires an accurate measurement of individual particle properties and dynamics. Both 2D and 3D high speed imaging techniques have been developed for this purpose. To maximize the accuracy of the predictions, a specific illumination level is required. High Speed Stereovision Setup for Position and Motion Estimation of Fertilizer Particles Leaving a Centrifugal Spreader

EA SPE GEAPSI; International audience; A 3D imaging technique using a high speed binocular stereovision system was developed in combination with corresponding image processing algorithms for accurate determination of the parameters of particles leaving the spinning disks of centrifugal fertilizer spreaders. Validation of the stereo-matching algorithm using a virtual 3D stereovision simulator indicated an error of less than 2 pixels for 90% of the particles. The setup was validated using the cylindrical spread pattern of an experimental spreader.
