A SUMOylation-defective MITF germline mutation predisposes to melanoma and renal carcinoma

International audience; So far, no common environmental and/or phenotypic factor has been associated with melanoma and renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The known risk factors for melanoma include sun exposure, pigmentation and nevus phenotypes; risk factors associated with RCC include smoking, obesity and hypertension. A recent study of coexisting melanoma and RCC in the same patients supports a genetic predisposition underlying the association between these two cancers. International audience; Buchnera aphidicola is an obligate symbiotic bacterium that sustains the physiology of aphids by complementing their exclusive phloem sap diet. In this study, we reappraised the transport function of different Buchnera strains, from the aphids Acyrthosiphon pisum, Schizaphis graminum, Baizongia pistaciae and Cinara cedri, using the re-annotation of their transmembrane proteins coupled with an exploration of their metabolic networks. Šī darba temats ir starppriekšmetu saikne matemātikas mācību procesā vidusskolā. Pašlaik tiek īstenots ESF projekts “Kompetenču pieeja mācību saturā”, kas liecina, ka dotais darba temats ir aktuāls. Šajā darbā tiek apskatīta un aprakstīta starppriekšmetu saiknes definīcija un aktualitāte. Darbā tiek piedāvāti dažādi matemātikas mācību stundu piemēri, kas parāda citu mācību priekšmetu, piemēram, fizikas, ekonomikas, bioloģijas, informātikas elementus matemātikā. Darbā tiek izmantotas tādas pētniecības metodes, kā aptauja un pārbaudes darbs.

Rolę multidyscyplinarnego zespołu diabetologicznego w leczeniu osoby z cukrzycą podkreślają zarówno polskie, jak i międzynarodowe zalecenia. Znaczenie dostępności opieki psychologicznej dla samopoczucia i zdrowia psychicznego osób z cukrzycą (i ich opiekunów), a także dla wyników leczenia cukrzycy jest przedmiotem licznych analiz. Pomimo rekomendacji i badań pokazujących korzyści z interwencji i wsparcia psychologicznego, brakuje danych na temat rzeczywistej dostępności takiej opieki zarówno w Polsce, jak i na świecie.
Objects as artifacts: synchronic convergence in multilingual contexts

In this paper, I propose a shift in analytic focus from language to artifacts – that is, to personally meaningful objects that surface in interaction and generate talk – as a means of accounting for the historical dimension of the relationship between form and meaning. Artifacts activate memories and feelings from other times and places, informing ways of speaking in the conversational here-and-now. Salience or visibility of science-related issues can be strategically projected by means of linguistic and visual resources. This article presents a methodology for examining the relations between the textual properties of popular science discourse and the visual features of accompanying images. The advantages of this approach are demonstrated through a multimodal analysis of a sample of biomedical articles from New Scientist, which reveals the frequency and distribution of selected properties of visual images, typical aspects of layout, attributed functions of the images, and their relation to the text. Yksi suurimmista syistä tähän lienee miesten ja naisten esittämisen erot videopeleissä: suurin osa videopelihahmoista on miespuolisia, kun taas naispuolisia hahmoja on vähän ja he ovat usein seksualisoituja.
