This paper continues the discussion about student-driven, interactive learning activities in higher education. Using object-oriented activity theory, the article explores the relational aspects of reflexive practice as demonstrated in five online discussions groups to develop students’ conceptual understanding. The aim of this study was to detect leaders among a group of university students based on their centrality scores and, from these scores, to distribute roles to help enhance learning climate. We understood that learning climate improved when the construction of networked knowledge was stimulated from the perspective of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning. We conducted the educational experiment in a virtual environment. Synchronicity matters: defining the characteristics of digital generations

This paper investigates whether or not the proposition that the second digital generation (or so-called digital natives) is more engaged in social use of the Internet than older generations is tenable. By analysing nationally representative questionnaire-based survey data collected from Finland in 2011 (N = 612), the study shows that rather than social use of the Internet in general, it is the synchronicity of online communication that distinguishes user generations. Teaching Argumentation Theory and Practice: The Case of 12 Angry Men

The aim of this contribution is to illustrate how the pragmadialectical model of critical discussion may be explained and studied with the jurors' deliberations in the film 12 Angry Men. The film itself may be understood as an argument by example, and to defend this idea we take into consideration the thesis that the filmmaker wants to establish, the constraints of the medium, and the three classical perspectives on argumentation.
