2013

This article is focused on the reasons for non-participation of African population in immigrant associations. To understand this question, we conducted semi-structured interviews with persons who decided consciously no to participate in associations and organizations that worked with immigrants. All this work was developed in Catalonia, Valencia and Navarra, from a multilocal research perspective. We interpret the associative detachment, as a voluntary distancing based on the absence of information, lack of time, disenchantment, proprietorship activism, passively waiting, or because they are the only user population. Nevertheless, there are other factors of greater significance, as the poli…

Is Communism to Blame for Political Disenchantment in Post-Communist Countries? Cohort Analysis of Adults' Political Attitudes

2014

In this article, we apply a new, original technique of cohort analysis to test empirically whether political disenchantment in the post-communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe can be linked to the previous political culture. On the basis of International Social Survey Programme 1996 and 2006 data we find a surprisingly similar and unique cohort effect in all analysed post-communist countries, reflecting persistent generational differences in perceived political competence (interest and understanding of political processes). However, the communist legacy does not seem to be important for explaining low self-efficacy or distrust in political authorities and their responsiveness to c…

Alternative Civil Enculturation

2010

The article investigates the ways in which minority schools in Latvia, Estonia, and Slovakia resist the dominant narratives of nation and citizenship and provide an alternative model of civil enculturation for students. It provides evidence to support the hypothesis that differences between competing narratives of statehood and nationhood among schools of two major ethnic groups in each country constitute relatively separate models of civil enculturation that may be shaped by political and social factors outside the school, such as power relations among groups.

2018

Criteria for the evaluation of the conclusion of the analytical path had already been dealt with by Freud (1937) in «Die endiiche und die unendiiche Analyse". In the following decades, with the change of theoretical assumptions and then with the new acquisitions in the field of Infant Research, which places the caregiver-child interaction as the foundation in the co-construction of the latter's personality, it became necessary to rethink the subject. This can be of great help to the psychotherapist, especially if the analysis is interrupted. In fact, even if the experience of unsuccessful therapeutic pathways can lead the analyst to a retrospective reflection on what happened during the the…

Criminal Mediation as a Restorative Instrument for Victim: In All Cases and for All Victims?

2012

Insofar as the intention is to provide legal protection, to speak of victims and of certain victims in particular, implies recalling the obscure past that enveloped them with regard to their invisibility in the criminal system as a whole. Society assumed the burden of the criminal response, through the expropriation of the victims’ rights by the State in the interests of that social safeguard. We have for centuries accepted that it was what society required –it was the conquest of civilization, ending “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” and the lex talionis. That was the best solution, although the outcome of these responses to that situation, owing to frustration, disenchantment an…

Paris 68-Barcelona 77. From the Events of May 68 to the Spanish Counterculture: Ajoblanco Magazine during the Trasition to Democracy

2020

The disenchantment of professionals in a new, implemented model of primary health care in Spain: A structural equations model

1992

Abstract A new model of primary health care has been progressively implemented in Spain. Previous research (Peiro and Gonzalez-Roma 1991) suggested that the implementation of this new model has produced a kind of disenchantment—that is, an experience of negative surprise—among health care professionals involved. In the present paper, a structural equations model about the antecedents and consequences of the experience of surprise is tested in a sample of 432 health care professionals working in 44 Primary Health Care Teams (PHCT). The results obtained showed that the number of uncovered functions in the PHCTs, the discrepancy between actual and desired time allocation, and the assessment of…
