International audience; While increasing life expectancy is a major achievement, the global aging of societies raises a number of medical issues, such as the development of age-related disorders, including neurodegenerative diseases. Szczurkowska et al. demonstrate that two ASD-related molecules – FGFR2 and Negr1 – physically interact to act on the same downstream pathway, and regulate cortical development and ASD-relevant behaviours in mice. Identifying common mechanisms in ASDs may reveal targets for pharmacological intervention.

Environmental factors, such as stress, increase the vulnerability of individuals to develop drug abuse and we have observed that exposure to social defeat (SD) stress alters the sensitivity of mice to the rewarding effects of MDMA in the conditioned place preference (CPP) paradigm.
