Modeling visual sampling on in-car displays: The challenge of predicting safety-critical lapses of control

In this article, we study how drivers interact with in-car interfaces, particularly by focusing on understanding driver in-car glance behavior when multitasking while driving. The work focuses on using an in-car touch screen to find a target item from a large number of unordered visual items spread across multiple screens. We first describe a cognitive model that aims to represent a driver?s visual sampling strategy when interacting with an in-car display. Goodpasture disease is an autoimmune disorder mediated by circulating autoantibodies against the noncollagenous-1 (NC1) domain of the alpha 3 chain of type IV collagen (alpha 3(IV)NC1). The structure of Goodpasture epitope(s) has been previously mapped into two main binding regions (E-A and E-B) of the alpha 3(IV)NC1 domain using a residue mutation approach on the highly related alpha 1(IV)NC1 domain. Courtship behaviour of Drosophila melanogaster revisited

Female precopulatory behaviour is often relegated to ‘accept' or ‘reject' mating, and how female behaviour interacts with that of males remains largely unknown. However, once detected and identified as potentially palatable, prey must employ a second line of defence such as performing a deimatic (startle) display. An advanced variant of an interpolatory graphical display algorithm

In this paper an advanced interpolatory graphical display algorithm based on cardinal B-spline functions is provided. It is well-known that B-spline functions are a flexible tool to design various scale rapresentations of a signal. The proposed method allows to display without recursion a function at any desiderable resolution so that only initial data and opportune vectors weight are involved. In this way the structure of the algorithm is independent across the scale and a computational efficiency is reached. Stereopsis assessment at multiple distances with an iPad application

[EN] We present a new application for iPad for screening stereopsis at multiple distances that allows testing up to ten levels of stereoacuity at each distance. Our approach is based on a random dot stereogram viewable with anaglyph spectacles. Sixty-five subjects with no ocular diseases, wearing their habitual correction were measured at 3 m and 0.5 m. Results were compared with a standard stereoscopic test (TNO). We found not statistically significant differences between both tests, but our method achieved higher reproducibility. Applications in visual screening programs and to design and use of 3D displays, are suggested. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

GPU-accelerated integral imaging and full-parallax 3D display using stereo-plenoptic camera system

Abstract In this paper, we propose a novel approach to produce integral images ready to be displayed onto an integral-imaging monitor. Our main contribution is the use of commercial plenoptic camera, which is arranged in a stereo configuration. Our proposed set-up is able to record the radiance, spatial and angular, information simultaneously in each different stereo position. We illustrate our contribution by composing the point cloud from a pair of captured plenoptic images, and generate an integral image from the properly registered 3D information. A touchless gestural system for extended information access within a campus

In the last two decades, we have witnessed a growing spread of touchless interfaces, facilitated by higher performances of computational systems, as well as the increased availability of cheaper sensors and devices. Putting the focus on gestural input, several researchers and designers used Kinect-like devices to implement touchless gestural interfaces.
