Size-consistent ab initio calculation of the electric quadrupole moment of Cl2

Abstract The molecular electric quadrupole moment ( Θ ) of Cl 2 has been calculated using SDCI, and (SC) 2 -SDCI wave functions as well as CCSD, CCSD(T), and CC3 methods. All these correlation methods are single reference. All of them, but SDCI, are free of the size-extensivity error. The variation of Θ from the separated atoms to the equilibrium region is reported. The present results leads to an estimated value of 2.3520 a.u. (10.55 × 10 −40 Cm 2 ) corresponding to a CC(3) calculation at the CBS approach and including the ro-vibrational and thermal averaging corrections. This value is compatible with two experimental values and points to one of them as slightly more reliable.

In vivo drug dissolution depends on the GI tract's physiological conditions such as pH, residence time, luminal buffers, intestinal motility, and transit and drug properties under fed and fasting conditions (Paixao, P. et al. To compute the dissociation energy of MgO, the relationship among the size of the active space in CASSCF wavefunctions, the computed De and the continuity of ∂E/∂r is studied. Basis set influence is also considered. Finally, it is concluded that the dissociation energy of MgO referred to ground state atoms is 2.32±0.1 eV.

Studies on the acid-base properties and solubility of a polyammonium polyelectrolyte (chitosan) with different molecular weights (MW 310 and 50 kDa), were performed at T=25 °C, in the pH range 2.5–7. The protonation of chitosan was investigated by potentiometry ([H+]-glass electrode) in NaCl, NaNO3 and mixed NaNO3+Na2SO4 ionic media, at different ionic strengths. Protonation constants were calculated as a function of dissociation degree α by means of two different models, namely, a simple linear model and the modified Henderson–Hasselbalch equation. Abstract We have studied theoretically the effects that the dissociation equilibrium of weak-acid fixed charge groups (e.g. carboxyl groups) exerts on the mean activity coefficients in charged membranes using a Donnan formalism. The model calculations indicate that unless carbon dioxide is excluded from the external aqueous solution, the pH of the membrane solution can be low enough to affect significantly the effective fixed charge concentration and the coion exclusion when the membrane fixed charge concentration is high compared with the external solution salt concentration. Thermodynamic properties and conductivities of some dodecylsurfactants in water

Densities, heat capacities, enthalpies of dilution, osmotic coefficients and conductivities are reported for dodecylamine hydrochloride, dodecyldimethylammonium and dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride in water over a wide range of concentration. The last two properties were also measured for dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide. From the thermodynamic data partial molar volumes, heat capacities and relative enthalpies and nonideal free energies and entropies were derived as a function of the surfactant concentration. Measuring single small molecule binding via rupture forces of a split aptamer.

The rupture force of a split (bipartite) aptamer that forms binding pockets for adenosine monophosphate (AMP) was measured by atomic force spectroscopy. Changes in the rupture force were observed in the presence of AMP, while this effect was absent when mutant aptamers or inosine were used. Thus, changes in the rupture force were a direct consequence of specific binding of AMP to the split aptamer. The split aptamer concept allowed the detection of nonlabeled AMP and enabled us to determine the dissociation constant on a single-molecule level.
Deaf readers benefit from lexical feedback during orthographic processing

Published: 23 August 2019 It has been proposed that poor reading abilities in deaf readers might be related to weak connections between the orthographic and lexical-semantic levels of processing. Here we used event related potentials (ERPs), known for their excellent time resolution, to examine whether lexical feedback modulates early orthographic processing. Twenty congenitally deaf readers made lexical decisions to target words and pseudowords. Each of those target stimuli could be preceded by a briefly presented matched-case or mismatched-case identity prime (e.g., ALTAR-ALTAR vs. altar- ALTAR). This study investigated the psychometric properties of the Dissociative Symptoms Scale (DSS) among Italian adults from outpatient and community samples. The DSS is a self-report measure of clinically relevant dissociation in adults. An Italian translation of the DSS was administered with measures of lifetime traumatic experiences, psychoform dissociation, and somatoform dissociation to 175 psychiatric outpatients and 423 individuals from the community.
