In this paper, smart grids based on Renewable Energy Sources are addressed. An Italian case study which has been developed in the frame of the research project i-NEXT (Innovation for green Energy and eXchange in Transportation) is presented. Storage elements are included. There is a growing interest in integrating renewable energy based distributed generation (DG) in the electrical power distribution networks. The installation of DG units at distribution level impacts critically the planning and operation characteristics of the network. In this paper we address the problem of detecting faulty behaviors of cooperative mobile agents. A novel decentralized and scalable architecture that can be adopted to realize a monitor of the agents’ behavior is proposed. We consider agents which may perform different independent tasks, but cooperate to guarantee the entire system’s safety. Agents plan their next actions by following a set of rules which is shared among them. Such rules are decentralized, i.e. they dictate actions that depend only on configurations of neighboring agents. Probabilistic Approach to the Design of Photovoltaic Distributed Generation in Low Voltage Feeder

This paper presents the probabilistic approach to the design of photovoltaic (PV) distributed generation (DG) and its impact on low voltage (LV) feeder. Monte Carlo simulation is used to predict solar radiation and load, and an exact method is used to solve the power flow. The method is tested on two study cases, and the results are compared with those from deterministic approach based on commonly used scenarios. The probabilistic approach is shown necessary to obtain the optimum PV rating based on technical constraints and different objectives, including accepting a reasonable risk when needed.
