Russian concept of the Eurasian Aerospace Defense System. Analysis of the problem

2018

The author of the article describes the most important theses of A. Podberezkin plan against the geopolitical Russia background which form a paradigm of a common security in Russian terms on a strategic area of Eurasia. It is of a particular significance in view of the growing threats to modern world. Especially of hazardous nature is current problem of North Korea in connection with nuclear testing carried out by unpredictable regime of Kim Jong-un which creates the risk that sudden conflict can drag the whole Peninsula into a war. This, in turn, would lead to the US intervention there. Effects of the possible conflict involving superpower are hard to predict. Another current problem is Mo…

Receptive Reason: Alexander of Aphrodisias on Material Intellect

2010

AbstractAccording to Alexander of Aphrodisias, our potential intellect is a purely receptive capacity. Alexander also claims that, in order for us to actualise our intellectual potentiality, the intellect needs to abstract what is intelligible from enmattered perceptible objects. Now a problem emerges: How is it possible for a purely receptive capacity to perform such an abstraction? It will be argued that even though Alexander’s reaction to this question causes some tension in his theory, the philosophical motivation for it is a sound one. Rather than a calculation of actualities and potentialities, the doctrine of receptivity is supposed to explain how human beings come to grasp universal…

Krajowa Rada Narodowa i Polski Komitet Wyzwolenia Narodowego w państwie prawa. Stanowiska doktryny

2021

<p>The establishment of the communist regime in Poland in 1944 is a current subject of reflection in the doctrine and practice of legislation and judiciary. There has been no uniform position on these events, which means that the then sanctioned political and normative order continues to produce controversial assessments and, above all, certain legal effects. This results from the fact that the new people’s power, empowered by force, and not by legal or social basis, has given itself the competence to establish a normative order. The lack of legitimacy for the rightful rule and legislative activity, in principle – from the point of view of the idea of the rule of law – undermines the …

The Continuity of the Constitutions: The Examples of the Baltic States and Georgia

2016

In the paper I will analyze the renewal of the constitution in the Baltic States and Georgia after the collapse of the socialist system. The renewal of the old constitutions are infrequent events in the world. In the Baltic States and Georgia, the restoration of the old constitutions had symbolic and political importance, reinforcing the doctrine of state continuity and legitimizing the new constitutional order after the transformation. I also will analyze the legal force of the constitutions after the occupation of the Baltic States by the USSR. The constitutions were of particular importance for the national resistance movements, since the validity of the constitutions was grounds for exi…

Guises and their Existence

1996

According to H-N. Castafieda, a guise the very thin individual which lies at the bottom of the ontological furniture of the world is indifferent to existence in a Meinongian way, in the sense that it remains the same whether it exists or not. Moreover, its existence does not alter its intentional character, as it is the very same individual which is thought of regardless of its being real or not. ~ In what follows, I will attempt to show that with regards to guises both theses are illegitimate, unless one introduces the notion of an existentiallyconditioned property as a counterfactual property which a guise has prior to its actual existence. To do so means to work out an amendment to Casta…

Ethical Assumptions: A Criticism against Modern Pragmatism

2016

The advent of neoliberalism in the early 1970s marked a new age for ethical practices. Although pragmatism as an approach to ethics pre-dated neoliberalism, the neoliberal approach to political economy ushered in a new kind of pragmatism, owing little to Jeremy Bentham, even less to the American philosophical pragmatists Charles S. Peirce, William James, and John Dewey. Today’s pragmatism has permeated the penal systems of the central countries of the world capitalist system. A new ethics emerged, a neopragmatism. Acts came to be judged by their effects and not by the motives that led to the actions. This altered the doctrine of Abrahamic religions, and led to the disappearance of forgivene…

De Pablo a Saulo: traducción, crítica y denuncia de los libros plúmbeos por el P. Ignacio de las Casas, S. J.

2002

The Morisco Jesuit P. Ignacio de Las Casas collaborated in the translation of some of the lead books found in Granada at the end of the 16th century. At first he was a partisan of their authenticity, but he rapidly became convinced that they were false. There followed a fierce struggle to make the Church prevent their publication. In the article his activity as a translator of these texts is reviewed, together with the arguments, which he used in order to criticise the doctrine contained in the lead books. In addition to noting the presence of Islamic elements, de Las Casas saw in them clear signs of ancient anti-trinitarian heresies. Although he does not consider them the work of Moriscos,…
