Consumer biases in the perception of organizational greed

This article extends current models of how consumers judge or perceive organizations as greedy by employing the theoretical framework of motivated moral reasoning. We show that inherent features of an organization (size and “black sheep” status) and its behavior (relative frequency) bias consumer perceptions of organizational greed. We use an experimental methodology, present subjects with vignettes describing different scenarios, validate our questionnaire using confirmatory factor analysis, and test our hypotheses by employing a general linear model with covariates. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate osseointegration of one-piece zirconia vs. titanium implants depending on their insertion depth by histomorphometry. Material and methods: Four one-piece implants of identical geometry were inserted on each side of six mongrel dogs: (1) an uncoated zirconia implant, (2) a zirconia implant coated with a calcium-liberating titanium oxide coating, (3) a titanium implant and (4) an experimental implant made of a synthetic material (polyetheretherketone). Hall effect and electronic structure of films

Abstract Tunneling experiments have shown that in order to retain half-metallicity at room temperature not only a large gap is required but also a Fermi energy considerably distant from the minority band edges. We correlate the position of the Fermi energy in the spin minority gap obtained from band structure calculations to Hall effect experiments. As a model system we chose Co 2 Fe x Mn 1 - x Si , where the Fermi energy was calculated to move from the valence band edge of the minority states to the conduction band edge with increasing x . Direct observation of Drude behavior in the heavy-fermion by broadband microwave spectroscopy

Abstract Previous optical studies on the heavy-fermion system UPd 2 Al 3 down to frequencies of about 1 cm - 1 ( = 30 GHz ) revealed a well-pronounced pseudogap at low frequencies (below 3 cm - 1 ) that was attributed to magnetic correlations. Thus, the optical conductivity at even lower frequencies is of notable interest because the Drude roll-off (the high-frequency characteristic of a metal which will give information on the quasiparticle dynamics) remained hidden at extremely low frequencies. A new approach to assess gold nanoparticle uptake by mammalian cells: combining optical dark-field and transmission electron microscopy.

Toxicological effects of nanoparticles are associated with their internalization into cells. Hence, there is a strong need for techniques revealing the interaction between particles and cells as well as quantifying the uptake at the same time. For that reason, herein optical dark-field microscopy is used in conjunction with transmission electron microscopy to investigate the uptake of gold nanoparticles into epithelial cells with respect to shape, stabilizing agent, and surface charge. Challenges in automated estimation of capillary refill time in dogs

Capillary refill time (CRT) is a part of the cardiorespiratory examination in dogs. Changes in CRT can reflect pathological conditions like shock or anemia. Visual CRT estimation has low repeatability; therefore, optical systems for automated estimation have recently appeared. Since existing systems are unsuitable for use in dogs, we designed a simple, small and portable device, which could be easily used at veterinary clinic.
