Analysis of multi degree of freedom systems with fractional derivative elements of rational order

2014

In this paper a novel method based on complex eigenanalysis in the state variables domain is proposed to uncouple the set of rational order fractional differential equations governing the dynamics of multi-degree-of-freedom system. The traditional complex eigenanalysis is appropriately modified to be applicable to the coupled fractional differential equations. This is done by expanding the dimension of the problem and solving the system in the state variable domain. Examples of applications are given pertaining to multi-degree-of-freedom systems under both deterministic and stochastic loads.

On the correlation of temperature harmonic content with energy dissipation in C45 steel samples under fatigue loading

Fatigue damage onset involves a transformation of mechanical energy. This is in part spent into work of plastic deformation and fracture and in part transformed into heat. Therefore, different thermomechanical heat sources are activated during a fatigue loading cycle, resulting in a temperature modulation that can be characterized by its frequency content. Several studies have monitored the temperature on samples undergoing high-cycle fatigue, measuring specific thermomechanical metrics which could serve as indicators of damage evolution. Domain-Driven Reuse of Software Design Models

This chapter presents an approach to software development where model driven development and software reuse facilities are combined in a natural way. The basis for all of this is a semiformal requirements language RSL. The requirements in RSL consist of use cases refined by scenarios in a simple controlled natural language and the domain vocabulary containing the domain concepts. Do we need metamodels AND ontologies for engineering platforms?

In this paper we show how the joint use of metamodeling and ontologies allows to describe domain knowledge for a complex domain. Ontologies are used as stabilized descriptions of a business domain while metamodels allow a fine description of the domain (to be constructed in the initial phases of modeling). We propose to use an ontology for early categorization, i.e., as a "natural" complement of the formal system that is induced by the metamodel.

Multipactor radiation analysis within a waveguide region based on a frequency-domain representation of the dynamics of charged particles

[EN] A technique for the accurate computation of the electromagnetic fields radiated by a charged particle moving within a parallel-plate waveguide is presented. Based on a transformation of the time-varying current density of the particle into a time-harmonic current density, this technique allows the evaluation of the radiated electromagnetic fields both in the frequency and time domains, as well as in the near- and far-field regions.
