New Architectural Models and Building Tradition: A Dialogue in Early Modern Sardinia - The Jesuit Church in Sassari
2014

Mechanical behaviour of Palermo and Marsala calcarenites (Sicily), Italy
2016
Abstract This paper aims at finding a framework for the Sicilian Calcarenites relating the strength and the deformability of these materials to their geological and structural features: fabric, bonding, initial and actual specific volume. In particular, this study sets out to separate the effects of fabric and of bonding on the mechanical response. The investigated lithotypes, Calcarenites from Palermo and Marsala, outcropping in many areas of southwestern Sicily, are characterized by sudden changes in their deformability, strength and permeability characteristics. The geotechnical identification, by means of computerized axial tomography and thin section petrographic analysis suggested a s…
Does uremic enterocolitis exist?
1981
In rats a severe but compensated chronic renal insufficiency was induced by stepwise 9/10 nephrectomy. Despite this severe chronic renal insufficiency we observed no relevant pathological changes in the intestinal mucosa. In particular, we found no evidence of mucosal erosions, ulceration or pseudomembranous colitis, findings which are traditionally thought to be characteristic of the uremic state. This was also true of those animals dying prematurely from uremia. Thus serious doubts arise about the existence of “uremic enterocolitis”, doubts which also proved justified after a critical review of the literature on human pathology.
Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
1979
The endoscopic aspects of an inflammatory colon disease do not permit the differentiation of a nonspecific proctitis from a bacterial enterocolitis and an ulcerative proctitis.
ag) Push-and-pull enteroscopy in the small bowel using the double-balloon technique: results of a prospective European multicenter study.
2005
BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and clinical impact of push-and-pull enteroscopy (PPE) in patients with suspected or documented small-bowel diseases, in a prospective multicenter trial in three European medical centers. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 100 patients (mean age 56 +/- 16 years; range 13 - 90) were included at the three institutions between July and November 2004. The leading symptoms were: acute recurrent or chronic gastrointestinal bleeding (n = 64), polyposis syndrome (n = 8), chronic abdominal pain (n = 7), chronic diarrhea (n = 7), and others (n = 14). RESULTS No major PPE-associated complications such as perforation,…
The Effect of Systemic Banking Crises on Entrepreneurship
2014
Economic crises have mixed effects on entrepreneurship. Through demand shocks, credit constraints, and unemployment, systemic banking crises affect the rate of start-up business creation, although the extent of their impact varies. Consequently, previous studies on the effect of crises on Entrepreneurship are inconclusive. The surge of global demand coupled with low credit availability reduces the prospects for new businesses. On the other hand, job losses caused by an economic crisis might lead many entrepreneurs to undertake new projects. These inconsistent conclusions highlight the need for more studies that explore the effect of systemic banking crises on entrepreneurship. This article …
From The Lisbon Strategy To Europe 2020
2015
Abstract The idea of a Western Europe economic recovery occurs after World War II. First as a common market, and later, after enlargement towards Central and Eastern Europe as the single internal market. Due to the new challenges with which the global economy was faced, the longterm and short-term European economy needs a coherent growth economic strategy; the success of this strategy depends on joint action. Expanding the European economy is a continuous and irreversible process, yet it advances too slowly. The Lisbon strategy is a commitment to revive the European economy in all sectors. At 5 years after implementation of this strategy it was found that the results are insufficient, so me…
Innovation practices in schools: The impact of different models of organization on the practice of Norwegian municipalities
2017
Services provided by primary schools have a significant impact on citizens’ living conditions. We need more knowledge of how innovation activities in primary schools should be organized and managed. This article addresses this gap by raising the following question: ‘Why do municipalities have different ways of organizing preventive work in primary schools and what impact do different organizational approaches have on professionals’ judgement and their decisions to call attention to children at risk, their response patterns and interdisciplinary/interagency cooperation?’ The qualitative exploration of these questions is based on in-depth interviews with head teachers and teachers in 10 Norw…
Assessment methods for impact of environmentally friendly entrepreneurship and driving forces to the quality of environment
2002
Environmentally friendly entrepreneurship (further – EFE) is one of the tools for improvement environmental quality. There might be made theoretical approaches, how quantitatively large is the impact of the EFE in changes of the quality of environment. In this field theoretical suggestion is prior to practice, because in the most of countries there is domination of several cases, but it could not be used as overall tendency [8; 10]. Opposite impact to quality of environment might be created by driving forces (driving forces are economical indicators, which stimulate changes in quality of environment) [1] like overcon‐sumption, growth of gross domestic product (further – GDP) etc. The articl…
