In vitro multiplication ofVella lucentina M. B. crespo (Brassicaceae), a threatened Spanish endemic species

1995

Vella lucentina M. B. Crespo is a threatened Spanish species that is endemic to a small area in eastern Alicante Province (SE Spain). Micropropagation techniques were applied forex situ conservation of this plant. Aseptic epicotyls bearing the apical bud were grown in Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with 6-furfurylaminopurine (Kin), N6-benzyladenine (BA) or 6-(γ,γ,-dimethilalylamino) purine (2iP). High multiplication rates were obtained with 0.5, 1, or 2 mg·liter−1 BA, or 1 or 2 mg·liter−1 2iP. Indole-3-acetic acid and indole-3-butyric acid were utilized for rooting in half-strength Murashige and Skoog medium. Regenerated plants were transferred to a potting mix and gradually acclim…

Control of murine cytomegalovirus in the lungs: Relative but not absolute immunodominance of the immediate-early 1 nonapeptide during the antiviral c…

1998

Effective control by the immune system is a hallmark of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection. Accordingly, human CMV disease is a medical problem restricted to the immunologically immature or immunocompromised host (for a review, see reference 21). Murine models have implicated natural killer (NK) cells and CD8 T cells in the control of CMV infection. While NK cells mediate early protection in genetically resistant mouse inbred strains (4, 5, 31, 51), CD8 T cells establish enduring protective memory and function as principal antiviral effectors in susceptible strains (31). Specifically, in the BALB/c strain, major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I-restricted antiviral CD8 T cells resolve …

Photoproduction of the f2(1270) resonance

2014

We have performed a calculation of the $\gamma p \to \pi^+ \pi^- p$ reaction, where the two pions have been separated in $D$-wave producing the $f_2(1270)$ resonance. We use elements of the local hidden gauge approach that provides the interaction of vector mesons in which the $f_2(1270)$ resonance appears as a $\rho$-$\rho$ molecular state in $L=0$ and spin 2. The vector meson dominance, incorporated in the local hidden gauge approach converts a photon into a $\rho^0$ meson and the other meson connects the photon with the proton. The picture is simple and has no free parameters, since the parameters of the theory have been constrained in the previous study of the vector-vector states. In a…

DirectX(3872)production ine+e−collisions

2014

Abstract Direct production of the charmonium-like state X ( 3872 ) in e + e − collisions is considered in the framework of the vector meson dominance model. An order-of-magnitude estimate for the width Γ ( X → e + e − ) is found to be ≳0.03 eV. The same approach applied to the χ c 1 charmonium decay predicts the corresponding width of the order 0.1 eV in agreement with earlier estimates. Experimental perspectives for the direct production of the 1 + + charmonia in e + e − collisions are briefly discussed.

Dynamic sensory description of Rioja Alavesa red wines made by different winemaking practices by using Temporal Dominance of Sensations

2015

BACKGROUND Although sensory description of wines in scientific literature is very large, there is an evident lack of studies describing wines from a dynamic approach. The objective of this study was to describe the evolution of the sensations perceived in red wines from Rioja Alavesa by using Temporal Dominance of Sensations (TDS) and also to compare wines made with the two winemaking procedures used in Rioja Alavesa: carbonic maceration (CM) and destemming (DS). RESULTS Ten sensory attributes were evaluated in eight wines (four CM and four DS wines) in triplicate by a panel of 16 trained assessors. Red/black berry and woody aromas were dominant firstly, whereas heat, astringent, bitter and…

Die „Gewichtsphobie” - Ein Diskussionsbeitrag zum Problem der „atypischen” oder „nicht näher bezeichneten”Eß- und Gewichtsstörungen -

2000

A number of authors have stated that the problem of classifying patients whose diagnosis does not meet all the criteria of anorexia and bulimia nervosa has not been satisfactorily solved. The question has been asked if it is justified to regard characteristics like "weight phobia" or body image disturbance as valid diagnostic criteria. In the present study the differences observed in three groups of patients with eating and weight disorders (anorexia: n = 42; bulimia: n = 29; atypical group without "weight phobia": n = 14) were compared using the Giessen-Test. The atypical group was shown to be significantly more "tractable" on scale 2 than the main groups, which achieved a higher score on …

Goal conflict and facilitation as predictors of work–family satisfaction and engagement

2008

Abstract In a study of working adults (N = 131; Mean age = 43.52 yrs; 62 males) in Germany and Finland, the mean level of goal facilitation was found to be significantly higher than that of goal interference. Hence, many individuals seem to be rather successful in constructing a personal goal system that is functional in terms of supportive links. As hypothesized, goal conflict and facilitation were associated with work-related outcomes, especially with work satisfaction. The associations with family-related outcomes were less pronounced when the focus was exclusively on either supportive or interfering goal relationships. However, when the intraindividual relation between goal conflict and…

Bruņērču (Acari: Oribatida) dzimtu sastāvs un ietekmējošie faktori mājputnu ganību augsnēs bijušā kolhoza "Valmiera" teritorijā

2021

Ar mājputnu ganību izveidi tiek ietekmēti zālāji, un augsnē dzīvojošās bruņērces (Oribatida), kuras ietekmē mājputnu ganību raksturojošie vides faktori - nomīdīšana, putnu mēsli, apkārtējās faunas un floras maiņa, u.tml. Mainoties vides faktoriem zālājos, tiek ietekmētas bruņērču sabiedrības, to dažādu dzimtu sastopamība, sastāvs un indivīdu blīvums. Darba mērķis bija raksturot mājputnu ganību dažādas intensitātes ietekmi uz bruņērču dzimtu sadalījumu un dominējošām dzimtu grupām antropogēni noslogotās augsnēs bijušā kolhoza “Valmiera” teritorijā. Bakalaura darba ietvarā tika ievākti un pētīti augsnes paraugi bijušā kolhoza “Valmiera” teritorijas augsnēs, tā atrodas netālu no Valmieras pils…
