Characterization and transcriptional analysis of Pseudomonas fluorescens denitrifying clusters containing the nar, nir, nor and nos genes

In this study, we report the cloning and characterization of denitrifying gene clusters of Pseudomonas fluorescens C7R12 containing the narXLDKGHJI, nirPOQSM, norCB and nosRZDFYL genes. While consensus sequences for Fnr-like protein binding sites were identified in the promoter regions of the nar, nir, nor and nos genes, consensus sequences corresponding to the NarL binding sites were identified only upstream the nar genes. Monitoring by mRNA analysis the expression of the narG, nirS, norB and nosZ structural genes suggests a sequential induction of the denitrification system in P. fluorescens.

Pseudomonas lini sp. nov., a novel species from bulk and rhizospheric soils.

The taxonomic position of eight fluorescent Pseudomonas strains isolated from bulk and rhizospheric soils, and from water was examined. These eight strains clustered in one phenon together with Pseudomomas mandelii (CFBP 4844T), but could still be differentiated from this type strain by four phenotypic features. The eight stains exhibited internal DNA-DNA hybridization values ranging from 60 to 100%, with deltaTm below 5 degrees C (3.9 and 4.3 degrees C) for the lowest values (60 and 66%). Summary: Pseudomonas corrugataCFBP 5454 produces two kinds of cyclic lipopeptides (CLPs), cormycin A and corpeptins, both of which possess surfactant, antimicrobial and phytotoxic activities. In this study, we identified genes coding for a putative non-ribosomal peptide synthetase and an ABC-type transport system involved in corpeptin production. These genes belong to the same transcriptional unit, designated crpCDE. The genetic organization of this locus is highly similar to other PseudomonasCLP biosynthetic clusters. The biological features that allow a pathogen to survive in the hospital environment are mostly unknown. The extinction of bacterial epidemics in hospitals is mostly attributed to changes in medical practice, including infection control, but the role of bacterial adaptation has never been documented. We analysed a collection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates belonging to the Besançon Epidemic Strain (BES), responsible for a 12year nosocomial outbreak, using a genotype-to-phenotype approach. AbstractWeakly compact homomorphisms between (URM) algebras with connected maximal ideal space are shown to factor through H∞(D) by means of composition operators and to be strongly nuclear. The spectrum of such homomorphisms is also described. Strongly nuclear composition operators between algebras of bounded analytic functions are characterized. The path connected components of the space of endomorphisms on H∞(D) in the uniform operator topology are determined.
