Abstract Background We aim to evaluate serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL), indicating neuroaxonal damage, as a biomarker at diagnosis in a large cohort of early multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Methods In a multicentre prospective longitudinal observational cohort, patients with newly diagnosed relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) or clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) were recruited between August 2010 and November 2015 in 22 centers. Cognitive impairment in multiple sclerosis can be predicted by imaging early in the disease.

Background: Cognitive impairment is common in multiple sclerosis (MS) and adds significantly to the burden of the disease. The ability to predict future cognitive impairment from imaging obtained at disease onset has not been investigated. Methods: 62 patients imaged within 3 months of a clinically isolated syndrome were assessed neuropsychologically 7 years later. Baseline and periodic MRI measures of lesions, atrophy and normal-appearing white and grey matter were regressed against neuropsychological scores to explore the best predictors of cognitive outcome. The impact of isolated lesions on white-matter fiber tracts in multiple sclerosis patients

Infratentorial lesions have been assigned an equivalent weighting to supratentorial plaques in the new McDonald criteria for diagnosing multiple sclerosis. Moreover, their presence has been shown to have prognostic value for disability. However, their spatial distribution and impact on network damage is not well understood. As a preliminary step in this study, we mapped the overall infratentorial lesion pattern in relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis patients (N = 317) using MRI, finding the pons (lesion density, 14.25/cm3) and peduncles (13.38/cm3) to be predilection sites for infratentorial lesions. We study the class of Banach algebra-valued n n -homogeneous polynomials generated by the n t h n^{th} powers of linear operators. We compare it with the finite type polynomials. We introduce a topology w E F w_{EF} on E , E, similar to the weak topology, to clarify the features of these polynomials.

An approximate Rolle's theorem for polynomials of degree four in a Hilbert space

We show that the fourth degree polynomials that satisfy Rolle’s Theorem in the unit ball of a real Hilbert space are dense in the space of polynomials that vanish in the unit sphere. As a consequence, we obtain a sort of approximate Rolle’s Theorem for those polynomials.

Factorization of absolutely continuous polynomials

In this paper we study the ideal of dominated (p,s)-continuous polynomials, that extend the nowadays well known ideal of p-dominated polynomials to the more general setting of the interpolated ideals of polynomials. We give the polynomial version of Pietsch s factorization Theorem for this new ideal. Our factorization theorem requires new techniques inspired in the theory of Banach lattices.
