1. Segments of the guinea-pig ileum were incubated in Tyrode's solution containing 3 μM propranolol. Dopamine, like noradrenaline and clonidine, inhibited the twitch response to field stimulation. The inhibitory action of dopamine remained unchanged in the presence of the dopamine uptake inhibitor nomifensine (1 μM). Tissue from reserpine-pretreated amimals was insensitive to tyramine but the response to dopamine was not affected. Insulin and raclopride combine to decrease short-term intake of sucrose solutions.

We have previously reported that the hormone insulin can modulate synaptic function of dopamine neurons. To evaluate whether insulin can alter performance of a task which is dependent on intact dopaminergic signaling, we tested rats in a five minute lick rate task, with a range of concentrations of sucrose or oil solutions. Rats received either ip (t -15 min) saline or the D2 receptor antagonist raclopride (50 microg/kg), and intraventricular (t -4 h) saline or insulin (5 mU). The effect of dopamine on the overflow of endogenous noradrenaline from the perfused rabbit heart evoked by sympathetic nerve stimulation.

The effects of dopamine and two dopamine receptor antagonists (pimozide, flupenthixol) on the release of endogenous noradrenaline evoked by electrical stimulation of the postganglionic sympathetic nerves and their influence on cardiac performance were measured in isolated perfused rabbit hearts. 2. Dopamine 0.2μM decreased noradrenaline overflow and ventricular tension development in response to nerve stimulation. 3. Serotonin-dopamine interaction: electrophysiological evidence.

In this review, the most relevant data regarding serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT)/dopamine (DA) interaction in the brain, as studied by both in vivo and in vitro electrophysiological methods, are reported and discussed. The bulk of neuroanatomical data available clearly indicate that DA-containing neurons in the brain receive a prominent innervation from 5-HT originating in the raphe nuclei of the brainstem. Furthermore, this modulation seems to be reciprocal; DA neurons innervate the raphe nuclei and exert a tonic excitatory effect on them. (R)-(+)-nor-Roefractine (1) was synthesized by the Bischler-Napieralski route, using asymmetric reduction of the 1, 2-didehydro precursor imine with sodium (S)-N-CBZ-prolinyloxyborohydride. Compound 1 was able to displace [3H]-raclopride (a D2 dopamine receptor-selective ligand) from its specific binding sites in rat striatum with selectivity vs [3H]-SCH23390 (D1 dopamine receptor-selective ligand).

Abstract The effect of bilateral electric stimulation of A10 dopaminergic neurons of the ventral tegmental area (80–300 μA, 20–50 Hz, 0.1–0.5 ms, 2 s duration) on latency and duration of the orienting response, evoked by acoustic stimuli (4500–8000 Hz, 2 s), was studied in the cat.
