Homologies Between Different Forms of 2-5A Synthetases

(2′-5′) Oligoadenylate synthetases (2-5A synthetases; EC 2.7.7.19) are present in mammalian cells and tissues and synthesize from ATP a series of oligomers termed 2-5A [general formula: ppp(A2′p)nA; with 1 ≤ n < 18 and usually 1 ≤ n < 6] (Hovanessian 1991). For full enzymic activity of the 2-5A synthetases, binding of double-stranded RNA is required (Sen 1982). Three principal 2-5A synthetase isoenzymes have been described with Mr’s of 40–46, 69, and 100 kDa (Chebath et al. 1987; Hovanessian et al. 1987, 1988). First country records for two species of the Afrotropical genus Coridiellus J.A. Lis, 1990 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Dinidoridae)

First country records are provided for two species of the Afrotropical genus Coridiellus J.A. Lis, 1990, i.e. C. bechynei (Villiers, 1956) [Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zimbabwe] and C. lenoiri (Schouteden, 1909) [Zambia]. Their parameres are illustrated for the first time.

This study aims to examine a well-known inscription (IG XII.5, 225) dated to the mid-fifth century BC and found in Paroikia, near the acropolis of the ancient polis of Paros. It shows a typical formula of access limitation to local cults: according to most scholars, the cult in question is to be identified with the worship of Kore Astos (the Citizen), who is mentioned in the second line. The Dorians are excluded from this cult, as is shown by the expression (xenoi Dorie) appearing at the beginning of the text in a very relevant position. Understanding soil erosion processes in the Ecuadorian Andes with a tropical wet-dry climate and a variable topography, is fundamental for research on agriculture sustainable, environmental management, as well as for a stable water supply for the local populations. This work proposes method to estimate soil erosion risk in the semiarid Catamayo basin with limited data. The results show that the rainfall distribution and the erosivity along with the rugged topography, followed by the land cover (C-factor), are the most important factors to estimate soil erosion risk. The genes crucially determining the therapeutic response of chronic myelogenous leukaemia (CML) to interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha) are unknown. A long hidden chydorid (Chydoridae, Cladocera) taxon, first found as fossil specimens and recently redefined as Rhynchotalona latens (Sarmaja-Korjonen et al., Hydrobiologia 436: 165-169, 2000) is investigated for its biogeography and ecology. Late Holocene sediment sequence from Lake Sylvilampi, NE Finnish Lapland, and R. latens spatial distribution in relation to limno-climatic attributes in Finland were examined. New Afrotropical species of the genus Coridiellus J.A. Lis, 1990 with a key to its species (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Dinidoridae)

Coridiellus pseudocyclopeltus, a new species of the dinidorid subfamily Dinidorinae, is described from Zaire and is compared with Coridiellus cyclopeltus (Distant, 1890). It is the seventh species of this genus known from Afrotropical Region. A key to all the species of the genus Coridiellus is also provided. Male parameres are used for identification and their photographs are given for the first time for all species of the genus.
