Low lying axial-vector mesons as dynamically generated resonances

2005

We make a theoretical study of the s-wave interaction of the nonet of vector mesons with the octet of pseudoscalar mesons starting from a chiral invariant Lagrangian and implementing unitarity in coupled channels. By looking for poles in the unphysical Riemann sheets of the unitarized scattering amplitudes, we get two octets and one singlet of axial-vector dynamically generated resonances. The poles found can be associated to most of the low lying axial-vector resonances quoted in the Particle Data Book: $b_1(1235)$, $h_1(1170)$, $h_1(1380)$, $a_1(1260)$, $f_1(1285)$ and two poles to the $K_1(1270)$ resonance. We evaluate the couplings of the resonances to the $VP$ states and the partial de…

Bounds on the tau and muon neutrino vector and axial vector charge radius

2002

A Majorana neutrino is characterized by just one flavor diagonal electromagnetic form factor: the anapole moment, that in the static limit corresponds to the axial vector charge radius . Experimental information on this quantity is scarce, especially in the case of the tau neutrino. We present a comprehensive analysis of the available data on the single photon production process $e^+ e^- -> \nu \bar\nu \gamma$ off Z-resonance, and we discuss the constraints that these measurements can set on for the tau neutrino. We also derive limits for the Dirac case, when the presence of a vector charge radius is allowed. Finally, we comment on additional experimental data on $\nu_\mu$ scattering from t…

Renormalization of the weak hadronic current in the nuclear medium

2000

The renormalization of the weak charge-changing hadronic current as a function of the reaction energy release is studied at the nucleonic level. We have calculated the average quenching factors for each type of current (vector, axial vector and induced pseudoscalar). The obtained quenching in the axial vector part is, at zero momentum transfer, 19% for the sd shell and 23% in the fp shell. We have extended the calculations also to heavier systems such as $^{56}$Ni and $^{100}$Sn, where we obtain stronger quenchings, 44% and 59%, respectively. Gamow--Teller type transitions are discussed, along with the higher order matrix elements. The quenching factors are constant up to roughly 60 MeV mom…

Quasielastic neutrino (antineutrino) reactions in nuclei and the axial-vector form factor of the nucleon

1992

Abstract Quasielastic neutrino and antineutrino reactions in nuclei are studied to investigate the effect of the nuclear medium on the determination of axial dipole mass M A in nuclei. The calculations are done in the local density approximation and various nuclear effects like Pauli blocking, Fermi motion of nucleons and strong renormalization effects in the spin-isospin channel are taken into account. The nuclear effects are found to be quite large at low q 2 , but the data in this region are too meagre to influence the determination of M A . The experimental data on differential and total cross sections are found to be consistent with M A as determined from deuterium experiments and no c…

Recent Developments in Chiral Unitary Dynamics of Resonances

2007

In this talk I summarize recent findings made on the description of axial vector mesons as dynamically generated states from the interaction of peseudoscalar mesons and vector mesons, dedicating some attention to the two $K_1(1270)$ states. Then I review the generation of open and hidden charm scalar and axial states. Finally, I present recent results showing that the low lying $1/2^+$ baryon resonances for S=-1 can be obtained as bound states or resonances of two mesons and one baryon in coupled channels dynamics.

Radiative decay intoγPof the low lying axial-vector mesons

2008

We evaluate the radiative decay into a pseudoscalar meson and a photon of the whole set of the axial-vector mesons dynamically generated from the vector-pseudoscalar meson interaction. We take into account tree level and loop diagrams coming from the axial-vector decay into a vector and a pseudoscalar meson. We find a large span for the values of the radiative widths of the different axial-vector mesons. In particular, we evaluate the radiative decay into K{gamma} of the two K{sub 1}(1270) states, recently claimed theoretically, and discuss the experimental values quoted so far on the assumption of only one state.

Single-spin asymmetries of $d(\gamma,\pi)NN$ in the first resonance region

2003

Incoherent photoproduction of pions on the deuteron in the first resonance region is investigated with special emphasis on single-spin asymmetries. For the elementary pion production operator an effective Lagrangian model which includes the standard pseudovector Born terms and a resonance contribution from the $\Delta$(1232)-excitation is used. Single-spin asymmetries, both for charged and neutral pion photoproduction on the deuteron, are analyzed and calculated for the first time in the first resonance region. The linear photon asymmetry $\Sigma$, vector target asymmetry $T_{11}$ and tensor target asymmetries $T_{20}$, $T_{21}$, and $T_{22}$ for the reaction $d(\gamma,\pi)NN$ are predicted…

Pion Exchange Current Effects in ν μ + d → μ − +p + p

1986

The effect of pion exchange currents in the process νμ + d → μ− +p + p is estimated using realistic wave functions for the deuteron and closure over the final dinucleon states. Its implications on the determination of axial vector form factor FA(q2) are discussed.

Study of annihilation at rest into ωηπ0

1994

Abstract We have studied p p annihilations at rest in liquid hydrogen into the final state ωηπ 0 where ω decays to π 0 γ . This reaction is dominated by the production of α 0 (980) and contributions from a 2 (1320) and b 1 0 (1235). Upper limits for the production of an axial vector h ′ 1 (1380) meson and vector mesons ω(1390), ω(1600), and φ(1680) decaying to ωη are given. The branching ratio of p p annihilation into ωηπ 0 was determined to be (0.68±0.01±0.05)%.
