B0andBs0decays intoJ/ψf0(980)andJ/ψf0(500)and the nature of the scalar resonances

Abstract We describe the B 0 and B s 0 decays into J / ψ f 0 ( 500 ) and J / ψ f 0 ( 980 ) by taking into account the dominant process for the weak decay of B 0 and B s 0 into J / ψ and a q q ¯ component. After hadronization of this q q ¯ component into pairs of pseudoscalar mesons we obtain certain weights for the meson–meson components and allow them to interact among themselves. The final state interaction of the meson–meson components, described in terms of chiral unitary theory, gives rise to the f 0 ( 980 ) and f 0 ( 500 ) resonances and we can obtain the π + π − invariant mass distributions after the decay of the resonances, which allows us to compare directly to the experiments. Entropy development in ideal relativistic fluid dynamics with the Bag Model equation of state

We consider an idealized situation where the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) is described by a perfect, (3 + 1)-dimensional fluid dynamic model starting from an initial state and expanding until a final state where freeze-out and/or hadronization takes place. We study the entropy production with attention to effects of (i) numerical viscosity, (ii) late stages of flow where the Bag Constant and the partonic pressure are becoming similar, (iii) and the consequences of final freeze-out and constituent quark matter formation.

The ATLAS Tile Calorimeter performance at LHC

The Tile Calorimeter (TileCal), the central section of the hadronic calorimeter of the ATLAS experiment, is a key detector component to detect hadrons, jets and taus and to measure the missing transverse energy. Due to the very good muon signal to noise ratio it assists the spectrometer in the identification and reconstruction of muons. TileCal is built of steel and scintillating tiles coupled to optical fibers and read out by photomultipliers. The calorimeter is equipped with systems that allow to monitor and to calibrate each stage of the read-out system exploiting different signal sources: laser light, charge injection and a radiactive source. The large-area hybrid-optics CLAS12 RICH detector: Tests of innovative components

A large area ring-imaging Cherenkov detector has been designed to provide clean hadron identification capability in the momentum range from 3 GeV/c to 8 GeV/c for the CLAS12 experiments at the upgraded 12 GeV continuous electron beam accelerator facility of Jefferson Lab to study the 3D nucleon structure in the yet poorly explored valence region by deep-inelastic scattering, and to perform precision measurements in hadronization and hadron spectroscopy. Analysis of transverse momentum correlations in hadronic Z decays

In a recent paper, evidence was presented for a significant, positive correlation between the total transverse momenta of particles on opposite hemispheres of hadronic events. A new, model independent analysis of the data has been made. Two components can be distinguished in the correlation, and quantitative estimates of each are given. Measurement of the branching fraction of the decay Bs0→KS0KS0

A measurement of the branching fraction of the decay Bs0→KS0KS0 is performed using proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 fb-1 collected by the LHCb experiment between 2011 and 2016. The branching fraction is determined to be B(Bs0→KS0KS0)=[8.3±1.6(stat)±0.9(syst)±0.8(norm)±0.3(fs/fd)]×10-6, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third and fourth are due to uncertainties on the branching fraction of the normalization mode B0→φKS0 and the ratio of hadronization fractions fs/fd. Inclusive particle production at LEP

Abstract Recent results, some still preliminary, on inclusive hadron production at LEP are presented. The high precision data at the Z resonance (LEP I) provide a better understanding of the hadronization dynamics and serve as input for the tuning of M Monte Carlo models. First results from the high energy running (LEP II) are still dominated by large statistical uncertainties.

Deep sub-threshold K*(892)0 production in collisions of Ar + KCl at 1.76A GeV

Results on the deep sub-threshold production of the short-lived hadronic resonance K*(892)0 are reported for collisions of Ar + KCl at 1.76A GeV beam energy, studied with the High Acceptance Di-Electron Spectrometer (HADES) at SIS18/GSI. The K*(892)0 production probability per central collision of \( P_{K^{*0}}=(4.4\pm 1.1 \pm 0.5)\times 10^{-4}\) and the K*(892)0/K0 ratio of \( P_{K^{*0}}/P_{K^0}=(1.9\pm 0.5\pm 0.3)\times 10^{-2}\) are determined at the lowest energy so far (i.e. deep below the threshold for the corresponding production in nucleon-nucleon collisions, \( \sqrt{s_{NN}}-\sqrt{s_{thr}}=-340\) MeV). Production ofK 0 and Λ in hadronic Z decays

Measurements of the inclusive cross-sections forK 0 and Λ production in hadronic decays of the Z are presented together with measurements of two-particle correlations within pairs of Λ andK 0. The results are compared with predictions from the hadronization models Jetset, based on string fragmentation, and Herwig, based on cluster decays. TheK 0 spectrum is found to be harder than predicted by both models, while the Λ spectrum is softer than predicted. The correlation measurements are all reproduced well by Jetset, while Herwig misses some of the qualitative features and overestimates the size of the $$\Lambda \bar \Lambda $$ correlation. Search for Stopped Gluinos frompp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

Long-lived, heavy particles are predicted in a number of models beyond the standard model of particle physics. We present the first direct search for such particles' decays, occurring up to 100 h after their production and not synchronized with an accelerator bunch crossing. We apply the analysis to the gluino (g), predicted in split supersymmetry, which after hadronization can become charged and lose enough momentum through ionization to come to rest in dense particle detectors.
