Automated Determination of Ziprasidone by HPLC With Column Switching and Spectrophotometric Detection

An isocratic high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method with column switching and ultraviolet (UV) detection is described for quantitative analysis of the new antipsychotic drug ziprasidone. After centrifugation of serum or plasma samples and addition of fluperlapine as internal standard, the samples were injected into the HPLC system. On-line sample clean-up was conducted on a column (10 x 4.0 mm ID) filled with silica C8 material (20-microm particle size) using 8% (vol/vol) acetonitrile in deionized water as eluent. Therapeutic Drug Monitoring of Naltrexone and 6β-Naltrexol During Anti-craving Treatment in Alcohol Dependence: Reference Ranges.

Aims Aim of this study was to associate concentration of naltrexone and its major active metabolite 6β-naltrexol in blood with therapeutic outcome during treatment with naltrexone in subjects with alcohol dependence. Treatment with the μ-opiate receptor antagonist naltrexone has been shown to reduce craving for alcohol and alcohol intake in patients suffering from alcohol dependence. Venlafaxine (VEN) is a modern antidepressant which exerts both serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibition. In this study we examined the influence of age, sex, smoking, and co-medication on serum levels of VEN and its metabolite O-desmethylvenlafaxine (ODVEN) in patients treated with VEN under naturalistic conditions.We retrospectively evaluated 478 TDM analyses of VEN requested in the Pychiatric University Hospitals of Mainz, Regensburg, and Würzburg. Serum Concentrations of Fluvoxamine and Clinical Effects: A prospective open clinical trial

This pilot study examined prospectively blood serum concentrations of fluvoxamine, side effects and therapeutic response after a fixed dosage of 100 mg fluvoxamine/day for 14 days. Twenty male and female patients who met the DSM-IV criteria of a major depression received 50 mg fluvoxamine b.i.d. for two weeks. On days 7 and 14 side effects and therapeutic response were registered and serum concentrations of fluvoxamine were determined. Therapeutic drug monitoring for optimizing amisulpride therapy in patients with schizophrenia.

Amisulpride is a clinically effective antipsychotic drug in a broad dose range with low propensity for extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS). Daily doses and plasma levels of amisulpride were analyzed within a large-scale therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) survey to find plasma level ranges for optimized treatment under naturalistic conditions. Data of 378 schizophrenic patients treated with amisulpride (100-1550 mg) were included (40% female). Cataracts and statins. A disproportionality analysis using data from VigiBase.

The basis of the association between statin use and cataract has been explored using the World Health Organization (WHO) global database of individual case safety reports (ICSRs) for drug monitoring (VigiBase) through January 2019. The reporting odds ratios (RORs) as a measure of disproportionality for reported cataracts and individual statins have been calculated.
