Norm estimates for operators from Hp to ℓq
2008
Abstract We give upper and lower estimates of the norm of a bounded linear operator from the Hardy space H p to l q in terms of the norm of the rows and the columns of its associated matrix in certain vector-valued sequence spaces.
Indigenismo y migracionismo. Aspectos de la neolitización en la fachada oriental de la Península Ibérica
1996
This paper discusses various aspects on the origins of the Neolithic in the Iberian Peninsula. The dual model is proposed as an alternative to the dichotomy of demie (migrationist) and non-demic (indigenist) explanations. The application of this model in eastern Spain offers an opportunity to evaluate its potential to account for diversity in processes associated with the origins of food production and their spatial organisation.
Towards a poïetic of are or the stakes of a new interpretation of the being : the possibilities and the limits of the renewal of the Metaphysics from…
2012
The “being” remains still and always today an extremely mysterious and polemic object for the philosophers as for the individual who we are. Face to the perpetual reappearance of this object in the form of a fundamental interrogation, the question is to know if we are confronted to an insoluble problem for the reason or if it is a methodological problem which it is advisable to raise. Beyond of a new attempt at destruction of Metaphysics in all its forms and its dimensions by the postmoderns, we must try to reflect today on the true positivity of the questioning of the “being”. From Kant to Bachelard, we are seeing a gradual opening during the history through the way of another practice whi…
The impact of theatrical experiences on young adults in Spain
2018
This study examines how young adults experience theatre and how this activity impacts their personal development. A total of 305 subjects, between 14 and 29 years old, completed the 'Theatre and me' (T&Y) battery of questions. Correlation and variance analysis were conducted considering age and gender. Older subjects reported that participating in drama activities has a greater impact on their lives, helps them to have a greater proclivity to take risks and to be more open-minded. With respect to gender, girls score higher than boys in 'Tolerance to RiskTaking and Commitment', 'Identity and Consciousness', Expression of Feeling' and 'Escape'
Topological Dual Systems for Spaces of Vector Measure p-Integrable Functions
2016
[EN] We show a Dvoretzky-Rogers type theorem for the adapted version of the q-summing operators to the topology of the convergence of the vector valued integrals on Banach function spaces. In the pursuit of this objective we prove that the mere summability of the identity map does not guarantee that the space has to be finite dimensional, contrary to the classical case. Some local compactness assumptions on the unit balls are required. Our results open the door to new convergence theorems and tools regarding summability of series of integrable functions and approximation in function spaces, since we may find infinite dimensional spaces in which convergence of the integrals, our vector value…
Great Minds Think Alike? Spatial Search Processes Can Be More Idiosyncratic When Guided by More Accurate Information.
2022
Existing research demonstrates that pre-decisional information sampling strategies are often stablewithin a given person while varying greatly across people. However, it remains largely unknown whatdrives these individual differences, that is, why in some circumstances we collect information moreidiosyncratically. In this brief report, we present a pre-registered online study of spatial search. Usinga novel technique that combines machine-learning dimension reduction and sequence alignment algo-rithms, we quantify the extent to which the shape and temporal properties of a search trajectory areidiosyncratic. We show that this metric increases (trajectories become more idiosyncratic) when a p…
New Twists of 3D Chiral Metamaterials
2018
Rationally designed artificial materials, called metamaterials, allow for tailoring effective material properties beyond ("meta") the properties of their bulk ingredient materials. This statement is especially true for chiral metamaterials, as unlocking certain degrees of freedom necessarily requires broken centrosymmetry. While the field of chiral electromagnetic/optical metamaterials has become rather mature, the field of elastic/mechanical metamaterials is just emerging and wide open. This research news reviews recent theoretical and experimental progress concerning 3D chiral mechanical and optical metamaterials, with special emphasis on work performed at KIT.
The mediating role of behavioural automaticity and intention on past to future bootcamp attendance
2023
Objective The aim of the current study was to test whether behavioural automaticity and intention mediated the effects of past behaviour on a particular type of vigorous physical exercise: bootcamp attendance. Methods A community sample (N = 69) who had previously attended a bootcamp class was recruited from Queensland, Australia. Participants were asked to complete measures of their previous bootcamp attendance, behavioural automaticity, and intention to attend bootcamps (Time 1). One month later (Time 2), participants were asked to report their bootcamp attendance and behavioural automaticity in the previous month. Data were fitted to a Partial Least Squares-SEM model. Results Past behavi…
Présence d’Asellides stygobies (Crustacea, Isopoda, Aselloidea) dans la région du Primorye, Sibérie sud-orientale
1993
Two species of anophthalmous, unpigmentedasellids have been found in springs and groundwaters of S.E. Siberia (Primorye region). Asellus (Asellus) primoryensis n. sp. is closelyrelated to the epigean species A. (A.) hilgendorfii Bovallius, 1886, as is the case for all stygobiont Asellus (Asellus) species previously known from the Japanese archipelago. Sibirasellus parpurae n. g., n. sp. is closely related to the microphthalmous species Asellus dentifer Birstein & Levanidov, 1952 from the Ussuri Basin (Khor region), now type-species of the new genus Sibirasellus. These two species show several original characters: body covered by numerous cuticular squamulae, mandibular palp reduced (gla…
Oxygen depletion in dense molecular clouds: a clue to a low O2 abundance?
2011
Context: Dark cloud chemical models usually predict large amounts of O2, often above observational limits. Aims: We investigate the reason for this discrepancy from a theoretical point of view, inspired by the studies of Jenkins and Whittet on oxygen depletion. Methods: We use the gas-grain code Nautilus with an up-to-date gas-phase network to study the sensitivity of the molecular oxygen abundance to the oxygen elemental abundance. We use the rate coefficient for the reaction O + OH at 10 K recommended by the KIDA (KInetic Database for Astrochemistry) experts. Results: The updates of rate coefficients and branching ratios of the reactions of our gas-phase chemical network, especially N + C…
