The devastating effects generated by earthquakes occurred in different parts of the world have attract at a major interest in Earthquake Engineering. This branch of Structural Engineering studies the response and capacity of structural systems subjected to seismic actions, and develops design and prediction methods aimed at achieving adequate safety standards in presence of seismic events. Based on the new national territory seismic classification and on the current antiseismic regulations, the study and implementation of seismic-resistant structures, with sufficient capacity to plastic deformation to dissipate the seismic energy incoming, is crucial nowaday. This paper therefore addresses the study of ductility property of structures which can be obtained through appropriate deformation capacity of materials, sections and structural elements.

Per supportare l'attività del Gruppo di Lavoro, nella redazione delle Istruzioni per Travi Prefabbricate Reticolari Miste, è emersa la necessità di eseguire una vasta campagna di prove sperimentali nel più breve tempo possibile. Assoprem si è fatta carico di questa esigenza finanziando un Progetto Nazionale Coordinato di Ricerca redatto dallo stesso GdL. Si tratta di un Progetto, del valore approssimativo di 100.000,00 €, che si snoda su 9 Centri di Ricerca Universitari ed 1 privato coordinati da un organismo nazionale.
