Should microfinance institutions hire staff from the same socioeconomic status as their clients?

2017

Master's thesis Business Administration BE501 - University of Agder 2017 Firms require staff to perform their operations. As such, the staff are considered an important resource in the achievement of any firm’s objectives. This is particularly the case with firms whose activities require staff to establish relationships with their clients. Such firms face even greater pressure in ensuring that objectives are achieved owing to behavioural differences of individual staff across social dimensions such as gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and age. Following this, some human resource studies advocate for the matching of staff with potential clients to produce positive performance outcomes.…

The Intraday Interest Rate: What's that?

2015

We study the intraday interest rate in a CCP-based GC pooling repo market and its key determinants. Since collateral used in this market is identical to collateral eligible for the daylight overdraft facility of the Eurosystem, any intraday rate in this market cannot be a result of collateral constraints keeping banks from using the overdraft for arbitrage. Nevertheless, we find that in the crisis period a statistically and economically significant intraday spread (up to 60 basis points) prevailed that was only somewhat mitigated by the ECB's unconventional monetary policy measures. Our results show that this spread was mainly determined by the market liquidity of the repo market, suggestin…

Envelopes of open sets and extending holomorphic functions on dual Banach spaces

2010

We investigate certain envelopes of open sets in dual Banach spaces which are related to extending holomorphic functions. We give a variety of examples of absolutely convex sets showing that the extension is in many cases not possible. We also establish connections to the study of iterated weak* sequential closures of convex sets in the dual of separable spaces.

Local multifractal analysis in metric spaces

2013

We study the local dimensions and local multifractal properties of measures on doubling metric spaces. Our aim is twofold. On one hand, we show that there are plenty of multifractal type measures in all metric spaces which satisfy only mild regularity conditions. On the other hand, we consider a local spectrum that can be used to gain finer information on the local behaviour of measures than its global counterpart.

Special elements in a ring related to Drazin inverses

2013

In this paper, the existence of the Drazin (group) inverse of an element a in a ring is analyzed when amk = kan, for some unit k and m; n 2 N. The same problem is studied for the case when a* = kamk-1 and for the fk; s+1g-potent elements. In addition, relationships with other special elements of the ring are also obtained

Religious diversity and entrepreneurial intentions : A macro-level analysis

2017

Master's thesis Business Administration BE501 - University of Agder 2017 Globally increase of diverse societies lead for a growing body of research to investigate how it affect for the economic behaviour of individuals. Religious diversity is one of the category of cultural diversity which might change the belief systems of individuals and thus it affects for intentions to start a business. Increase in diversity in most of the nations in the world, it is timely to study how diversity affect for entrepreneurship. This study focused on analysing the relationship between religious diversity and entrepreneurial intentions. With a macro level analysis, the study aimed at identifying the impact o…

An Empirical Study Of Service Quality Dimensions On Customer Satisfaction And Customer Loyalty In Nepalese Commercial Banking Sector

2016

Master thesis Business Administration - University of Agder 2016 The main purpose behind of this study is to find out the major factors that have impact in customer satisfaction and customer loyalty in case of commercial banks of Nepal. The thesis tries to explore whether there exists any relationship between service quality dimensions, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty depending upon various situational factors. Various concepts such as consumer buying behavior, buyer’s decision process, customer satisfaction, customer loyalty, service quality, SERVQUAL model have been discussed along with relevant relationship between them in the literature review and based upon it, a conceptual …

Interaction between seismicity and deformation on different time scales in volcanic areas: Campi Flegrei and Stromboli

2019

We study oscillations recorded at Stromboli and Campi Flegrei by different sensors: seismometers, strainmeters and tiltmeters. We examine both the high-frequency (>0.5 Hz) portion of the spectrum and very long period signals up to tidal scales. In this context, seismicity and deformation are investigated on different time scales (from minutes to days/years) in order to identify the basic elements of their interaction, whose understanding should provide new insights on the predictive models. In this work, the strict relation of tides and volcanic processes is shown. At Stromboli, indeed the transition from the stationary phase to the non-stationary phase seems to have a tidal precu…

Integration of onshore and offshore seismic arrays to study the seismicity of the Calabrian Region: a two steps automatic procedure for the identific…

2014

Abstract. We plan to deploy in the Taranto Gulf some Ocean Bottom broadband Seismometer with Hydrophones. Our aim is to investigate the offshore seismicity of the Sibari Gulf. The seismographic network optimization consists in the identification of the optimal sites for the installation of the offshore stations, which is a crucial factor for the success of the monitoring campaign. In this paper, we propose a two steps automatic procedure for the identification of the best stations geometry. In the first step, based on the application of a set of a priori criteria, the suitable sites to host the ocean bottom seismic stations are identified. In the second step, the network improvement is eval…
