Travelling to the green island full of shamrocks and pubs – or not : representations of Ireland in tourism web sites

2009

Matkailu on merkittävä tekijä elinkeinoelämässä, myös Irlannissa: kaikkiaan 5 % irlantilaisista työskenteli vuonna 2007 matkailualalla. Internet on yhä enenevässä määrin matkailun edistämiseen käytetty väylä.

Successful control of an outbreak of colonization by Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase-producing K. pneumoniae sequence type 258 in a neonatal inte…

2013

This article reports an outbreak of colonization by Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase-producing K. pneumoniae (KPC-Kp) sequence type (ST) 258 in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in Palermo, Italy. KPC-Kp ST258 was detected by an active surveillance culture programme. Between 18th September and 14th November 2012, KPC-Kp was isolated from 10 out of 54 neonates admitted in the outbreak period. No cases of infection were recorded. Male sex was associated with colonization, whereas administration of ampicilline-sulbactam plus gentamicin was protective. Infection control interventions interrupted the spread of KPC-Kp without the need to close the NICU to new admissions. (C) 2013 The Healt…

Incidence of microbial flora in lettuce, meat and Spanish potato omelette from restaurants

2001

A total of 370 samples including lettuce, meats (beef, pork and chicken) and Spanish potato omelette from restaurants were studied to evaluate the incidence of Escherichia coli, E. coli O157:H7,Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp.,Yersinia enterocolitica, enterococci and some micro-organisms that can cause spoilage orcan be usedas indicators for food safety. Escherichia coliand enterococci were harboured with the highest incidence in lettuce, whereas incidence of Staphylococcus aureus was higherin meat than in the other foods studied. Enterobacter cloacae and Klebsiella pneumoniaewere isolated from the three food groups. Chryseomonas luteola, Enterobacter sakazakii, Klebsiella ozaenae, Mo…

Sediment features, macrozoobenthic assemblages and trophic relationships (δ13C and δ15N analysis) following a dystrophic event with anoxia and sulphi…

2007

Macrozoobenthic assemblages and stable carbon (delta C-13) and nitrogen (delta N-15) isotope values of various primary producers (macroalgae and angiosperms) and consumers (macroinvertebrate filter/suspension feeders, deposit feeders, detritivores/omnivores and carnivores and fishes) were studied in the Santa Giusta lagoon (Sardinia, Italy) before (spring) and after (autumn) a dystrophic event which occurred in the summer of 2004. A few days after the dystrophy, the physico-chemical characteristics of sediments and macrozoobenthic assemblages were also investigated. In the latter occasion, high total organic carbon (3.9%) and organic matter (15.9%) contents of surface sediments went togethe…

Microbiological investigation of Raphanus sativus L. grown hydroponically in nutrient solutions contaminated with spoilage and pathogenic bacteria

2012

Abstract The survival of eight undesired (spoilage/pathogenic) food related bacteria (Citrobacter freundii PSS60, Enterobacter spp. PSS11, Escherichia coli PSS2, Klebsiella oxytoca PSS82, Serratia grimesii PSS72, Pseudomonas putida PSS21, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia PSS52 and Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 19114T) was investigated in mineral nutrient solution (MNS) during the crop cycle of radishes (Raphanus sativus L.) cultivated in hydroponics in a greenhouse. MNSs were microbiologically analyzed weekly by plate count. The evolution of the pure cultures was also evaluated in sterile MNS in test tubes. The inoculated trials contained an initial total mesophilic count (TMC) ranging between 6.…

A closed formula for the evaluation of foams

2020

International audience; We give a purely combinatorial formula for evaluating closed, decorated foams. Our evaluation gives an integral polynomial and is directly connected to an integral, equivariant version of colored Khovanov-Rozansky link homology categorifying the sl(N) link polynomial. We also provide connections to the equivariant cohomology rings of partial flag varieties.

Outbreak of infection with Klebsiella pneumoniae sequence type 258 producing Klebsiella pneumoniae Carbapenemase 3 in an intensive care unit in Italy

2010

Gram-negative pathogens producing carbapenemases represent an alarming clinical threat with serious effects on patient outcomes ([3][1], [7][2]). In 2001, Yigit et al. ([11][3]) reported a novel β-lactamase termed “ K lebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase” (KPC-1) in North Carolina. KPC-producing

Influences of culture, geography and infrastructure on website localization decisions

2012

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the role played by culture, geography and infrastructure on European airline's decision to launch market‐specific websites.Design/methodology/approachLogistic regression analysis based on 440 observations of home‐target country dyads collected from websites of nine European airlines, and supplemented by additional sources of macro level indicators. The unit of analysis is the country dyad.FindingsCultural distance between home and target country, geographical distance between home and target country, website traffic volumes originating from target country, demand conditions in target country, and competition intensity in target country all infl…
