X-ray nanotomography and electron backscatter diffraction demonstrate the crystalline, heterogeneous and impermeable nature of conodont white matter

2021

Conodont elements, microfossil remains of extinct primitive vertebrates, are commonly exploited as mineral archives of ocean chemistry, yielding fundamental insights into the palaeotemperature and chemical composition of past oceans. Geochemical assays have been traditionally focused on the so-called lamellar and white matter crown tissues; however, the porosity and crystallographic nature of the white matter and its inferred permeability are disputed, raising concerns over its suitability as a geochemical archive. Here, we constrain the characteristics of this tissue and address conflicting interpretations using ptychographic X-ray-computed tomography (PXCT), pore network analysis, synchro…

Powder metallurgy processing and deformation characteristics of bulk multimodal nickel

2014

cited By 7; International audience; Spark plasma sintering was used to process bulk nickel samples from a blend of three powder types. The resulting multimodal microstructure was made of coarse (average size ∼ 135 μm) spherical microcrystalline entities (the core) surrounded by a fine-grained matrix (average grain size ∼ 1.5 μm) or a thick rim (the shell) distinguishable from the matrix. Tensile tests revealed yield strength of ∼ 470 MPa that was accompanied by limited ductility (∼ 2.8% plastic strain). Microstructure observation after testing showed debonding at interfaces between the matrix and the coarse entities, but in many instances, shallow dimples within the rim were observed indica…

Experimental characterization of micromechanical and microphological properties of nickel base alloys strained by the growth of an ovide payer made i…

2011

The loss of the corrosion resistance of the alloy 600, a nickel base alloy, during the oxidation in pressurized water reactor (PWR) has been demonstrated by many studies. It induces the intergranular stress corrosion cracking (IGSCC). If the chemical composition and the structure of the growing oxide are well-known, the mechanical influence of the oxide on the alloy has not been fully studied, yet. This study aims at bringing new knowledge of the oxidation impact on the mechanical response of the alloy. A new methodology is introduced for determining the local nanodeformation of the alloy 600 induced either by an oxidation or by a tensile loading. This method is based on nanodots disposed a…

TCP pārblīves vadības algoritma realizācija un testēšana

2015

Pārraides vadības protokols (turpmāk – TCP) ir viens no galvenajiem protokoliem interneta protokolu kopā. Pārblīves vadība ir būtiskākais TCP elements, kurš nosaka tā veiktspēju. Pārblīve ir pārmērīgi intensīva ziņojumu plūsma, kas aizkavē ziņojumu pārsūtīšanu datoru tīklā, nelabvēlīgi ietekmē datoru tīkla veiktspēju un var radīt pārraidāmās informācijas zudumus. Darbā tiek pētīta un aprakstīta TCP pārblīves vadības protokolu izstrāde Unix saimes operētājsistēmā FreeBSD, izmantojot tajā pieejamo modulāro TCP pārblīves vadības ietvaru. Protokolu testēšana tiek veikta IMUNES datortīklu simulācijas vidē, salīdzinot izveidoto protokolu moduļu veiktspēju ar FreeBSD pieejamo pārblīves vadības pro…
