Sicilian potential biogas production from Citrus industry by-product

2017

In Europe, Italy is the second nation after Spain in Citrus production and 49% ca. of national fruit production is located in Sicily. The by-product obtained from the industrial processing of Citrus fruits into juice and essential oils is called “pastazzo” or Citrus Waste (CW). This study is aimed at evaluating the Sicilian potential biogas and energy production from the above “pastazzo” and verifying the possibility of using this by-product for Anaerobic Digestion (AD) process within 30 km from processing plants. The areas cultivated with Citrus species in Sicily and their distribution in the various municipal districts were mapped and analysed by means of QGIS software, together with the …

Klemens Rzymski o sukcesji apostolskiej

2014

1910. anniversary of the death of Saint Clement of Rome, the third successor of Bishop of Rome, celebrated a few years ago († 101), became an opportunity to remind his teaching, which he left in the Epistle to the Corinthians, written by him. The content of this letter is an important witness of the emerging church organization. That, what was happening in Corinth and, without a doubt, in Rome, is one of the stages of the Church’s history of major importance. The contemporary situation related to the authority prompted the acceptance of the institutional proposal based on the Holy Scripture and the practice of the Apostles. Transferring saving mission “from hands to hands”, called apostolic…

Project Management Information Systems (PMISs): A Statistical-Based Analysis for the Evaluation of Software Packages Features

2021

Project Managers (PMs) working in competitive markets are finding Project Management Information Systems (PMISs) useful for planning, organizing and controlling projects of varying complexity. A wide variety of PMIS software is available, suitable for projects differing in scope and user needs. This paper identifies the most useful features found in PMISs. An extensive literature review and analysis of commercial software is made to identify the main features of PMISs. Afterwards, the list is reduced by a panel of project management experts, and a statistical analysis is performed on data acquired by means of two different surveys. The relative importance of listed features is properly comp…

New ECCO model documents for Material Deposit and Transfer Agreements in compliance with the Nagoya Protocol

2020

The European Culture Collections Organisation presents two new model documents for Material Deposit Agreement (MDA) and Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) designed to enable microbial culture collection leaders to draft appropriate agreement documents for, respectively, deposit and supply of materials from a public collection. These tools provide guidance to collections seeking to draft an MDA and MTA, and are available in open access to be used, modified, and shared. The MDA model consists of a set of core fields typically included in a deposit form to collect relevant information to facilitate assessment of the status of the material under access and benefit sharing (ABS) legislation. It a…

Entre Domat et Beccaria: Muratori et la codification de la jurisprudence

2014

A classical text from the ltalian legal literature of the first half of the eighteenth century, but little known outside Italy, the treaty De’ difetti della giurisprudenza (On the Defects of Jurisprudence, 1742) is the work of historian and philosopher Lodovico Antonio Muratori who was from Modena. Since he was opposed to the alterations which had changed the common law inspired by Justinian principles, his treaty embraces the passion of the century for a new legal rationality. Partly dependent on the design of unification of the Roman law developed by Jean Domat, Muratori’s critical thinking feeds in its turn Baccaria’s draft to streamline the right to punish. Thus, between the time of con…
