The prices across different geographical areas can differ due to transmission congestion. To hedge against the risk of price variations across time and space the market participants can use forward or future contracts and Contracts for Difference (CfDs), which are listed at Nord Pool. Masteroppgave i økonomi og administrasjon - Universitetet i Agder 2009 I denne oppgave har jeg analysert kostnadene ved børsnotering på Oslo Børs i perioden 1998-2008. Utvalget mitt består av 62 selskaper innfor et vidt spekter av sektorer. Jeg finner at den indirekte kostnaden, målt ved underprisingen er betraktelig mindre i Norge enn i undersøkelser funnet i andre land. Underprisingen er også lavere enn tideligere sammenlignbare norske undersøkelser. De direkte kostnadene ved børsintroduksjon er betraktelig høyere enn funn i andre land. Underprisingen i mitt utvalg ligger på 6,1% målt som første dags markedsjustert avkastning, mens den gjennomsnittlige direkte kostnad for en børsintroduks…

Masteroppgave i økonomi og administrasjon - Universitetet i Agder 2009 This paper uses the traditional sharpe and some modern ratios to evaluate the performance of Credit Suisse/Tremont hedge funds index in comparison to the equity, bond and commodity markets. As concluded by previous studies, hedge funds have higher sharp ratios, negative skewness and positive kurtosis than the equity, bond and commodity indices. I found that hedge funds generally exhibit low correlation with the equity (but MSCI world), bond and commodity indices, even during financial crises. This makes hedge funds suitable for portfolio diversification. However, this diversification benefit may be minimized by the fact …
