Optical flow estimation from multichannel spherical image decomposition
2011
International audience; The problem of optical flow estimation is largely discussed in computer vision domain for perspective images. It was also proven that, in terms of optical flow analysis from these images, we have difficulty distinguishing between some motion fields obtained with little camera motion. The omnidirectional cameras provided images with large filed of view. These images contain global information about motion and allow to remove the ambiguity present in perspective case. Nevertheless, these images contain significant radial distortions that is necessary to take into account when treating these images to estimate the motion. In this paper, we shall describe new way to comp…
Two component chiral gels: a study of properties and behavior as recognition systems
Pamięć i czas a (nie)bezpieczeństwo ontologiczne współczesnego człowieka
2019
The nature of the syllabic neighbourhood effect in French
2006
International audience; We investigated whether and how sublexical units such as phonological syllables mediate access to the lexicon in French visual word recognition. To do so, two lexical decision task (LDT) experiments examined the nature of the syllabic neighbourhood effect. In Experiments 1a and b, the number of higher frequency syllabic neighbours was manipulated while controlling for the first bigram. The results failed to show a pure syllabic neighbourhood effect. In Experiments 2a and b, syllabic neighbourhood and bigram frequency were factorially manipulated. The interaction showed that the syllabic neighbourhood effect was inhibitory when bigram frequency was high, whereas it wa…
Emotions and Activity Recognition System Using Wearable Device Sensors
2021
Nowadays machines have become extremely smart, there are a lot of existing services that seemed to be unexpectable and futuristic decades or even a few years ago. However, artificial intelligence is still far from human intelligence, machines do not have feelings, consciousness, and intuition. How can we help machines to learn about human feelings and understand their needs better? People take their devices wherever they go, what can devices tell us about their owners? Personal preferences and needs are dependent on emotional and situational contexts. Therefore, emotional and activity aware gadgets would be more intuitive and provide more appropriate information to users. Contemporary weara…
Low frequency rTMS over the right parietal cortex at retrieval increases recognition memory in healthy subjects
2013
Neuroimaging and lesion studies have led to contrasting findings regarding the potential role of the parietal lobe in episodic memory. Imaging studies strongly suggest an important participation of the posterior parietal cortex (PPC) in episodic memory, whereas lesion studies are not conclusive at this regard. Using off-line 1 Hz rTMS paradigm, we conducted 2 experiments to investigate the role of PPCs in recognition memory. Real or sham rTMS were applied over the left or the right PPC (P3 and P4 of the 10–20 EEG system) of healthy subjects before encoding (Experiment 1) and just before retrieval (Experiment 2) of forced-choice non verbal recognition memory tasks. rTMS over the left and the…
Image classification based on 2D feature motifs
2013
The classification of raw data often involves the problem of selecting the appropriate set of features to represent the input data. In general, various features can be extracted from the input dataset, but only some of them are actually relevant for the classification process. Since relevant features are often unknown in real-world problems, many candidate features are usually introduced. This degrades both the speed and the predictive accuracy of the classifier due to the presence of redundancy in the candidate feature set. In this paper, we study the capability of a special class of motifs previously introduced in the literature, i.e. 2D irredundant motifs, when they are exploited as feat…

La negazione dell'anti-popolo: Der ewige Jude di Fritz Hippler
2017
This paper focuses on a Nazi propaganda's film, Der ewige Jude, directed by F. Hippler. The movie is a classic of anti-Semitism but the idea of eternal Jew and his opposition to the Aryan people least breaks out of a discrepancy. For Nazi ideology Jew is not being a people, not being a form. Truly, it is an anti-people, all but an not being, it is shapeless. But the cinema produces images, insofar as this is a shape; so, what Nazism recognizes to His own people, and denies it to Jew, the form as such, the movie attributes it to him.
